Default 2011 first pick

I thought I'd start this one up now. Obviously a lot can change from now to June, but who do you think will go number 1 in this years NHL draft right now? If you couldn't tell by my sig and avatar I'll be going with Gabriel Landeskog. I love his combination of skill and grit. To me he seems like he could be like an Ovechkin. Not in the sense that he'll score 60 goals and throw 200 hits each year. I mean he really has the ability to be his own player, that no one can really compare him to.

So, who's your number 1?

I've loved Landeskog ever since I saw him play. I was hoping he would regress this year and drop down to a teens pick so the Sens could pick him up or if the Sens end up doing bad this year, could be the next Alfie, not so much the hitting but the leadership and defensive/offensive duo he has. Maybe even Mike Richards.

I think Sean Couturier will go first overall though, teams can't pass on having a top liner that will put up solid points. Look at this past year where everyone thought Cam Fowler and Brandon Gormley would be going top 5 but then dropped down to 12th and 13th. I think the same will happen with Larsson, not as low as the other 2 did but not first overall. Although he does look like a stud.

The thing is that Cam Fowler was viewed as one-dimensional by a lot of teams and there were a lot of questions about whether Gormley's ceiling was actually high enough to justify being a top five pick and whether he was NHL ready or not.

I don't see those issues with Larsson, nor do I see him falling out of the top five. The only issue I can see is that he would need to adjust to the smaller rink and that it could cause some growing pains, similar to what we saw Hedman go through last season.

My pick's Larsson for the 1st overall pick. He's a slow starter, he'll pick it up.

I am going to predict that it might be Ryan,Adam or Gabriel. Ryan Nugent Hopkins(the player that I have most seen) is an incredible playmaker who also demonstrated it in the CHL All Star Game. Adam could go first depending on which team gets the first pick. Gabriel is another good forward,he also has the potential to go first. Nothing is narrowed down this far.

Well I was clearly not sober when I wrote that blurb. (Not actually but stuff has changed).

Between Larsson and Landeskog. I say Larsson is the best player available but Landeskog is pretty hard to turn down. I'm hoping no matter what happens Landeskog goes to the Sens, if he doesn't, I will probably cry a little. Although Larsson - Karlsson can be pretty sick.

I don't know what it is but I have that feeling that RNH is going to be a bust. So if we pick him I'll be upset, unless of course he turns out amazing.
