In doing some browsing, it appears that opportunities to make money in women's hockey is very limited and many people think this is a popularity issue. However, when the olympics roll around we all seem to get excited about it. Why not the rest of the year and how can we get this to change?

Women's hockey has evolved greatly in Canada but still needs more encouragement in the US. As a kid living in Canada, women's hockey was not popular, there were very very girls leagues and little encouragement for young female athletes to play. Today, however, there are many girls leagues and many players and it can be seen in the skill level of the International women's tournaments (ex. the olympics). It is great to see and hopefully it continues
Women's hockey would be more popular in the US if it was on TV more. The Wisconsin women are frequently the best college team in the US. They are rarely on TV, even here in Wisconsin. It gets good ratings in the Olympics.
