Germans ashamed after another loss
By JIM BENDER -- Sun Media
Team Russia chased the Germans home with their tails between their legs.
The Russians surprised Team Germany 4-1 before 10,701 -- the biggest crowd of the 2007 World Women's Hockey Championship not involving Canada -- in a relegation-round game at the MTS Centre yesterday afternoon.
The Germans drop from fifth to eighth in the world rankings and will be hanging their heads in shame when they arrive in their homeland.
"They'll say, 'What happened?' and we'll just say we don't know," Germany forward Nikola Holmes said. "They (Russians) out-hustled us. We finally hustled in the very end and had enough chances in shooting. But it wasn't enough and we have to swallow that and say, 'All right, next time, we're going to have to out-shoot them 5-1 or whatever.'"
But the drop in rankings will be tough to swallow.
