What are your thoughts on Ovechkin this year? Seems as he's in the number 1 group in every hockey pool i'm in, and it seems as if everyone is picking him. I have a feeling Malkin or Crosby's going to have a higher point total this year.

malkin maybe, but not crosby. the caps retained everyone from last year, and also got nylander and clark back. OV will still have an amazing year, and will more than likely finish on top in scoring again (who would've thought of someone having a 60+ goal season in today's league?). everyone is picking him because he is almost unanimously rated the #1 player in the world.

I think that Ovechkin will have another great year this

year.

I dont know if he will win the scoring race again because

he is still visisting his grandfather but you never know

because he is an amazing player.

early days early days he will be banging them in the net for fun soon and I think he will be very close to malkin this season the way the pens have been playing ovechkin could score quite a few more

I personally don't like OV. He is a very talenlted player but his celebrations really annoy me. Also he is not as amazing as people think he is. I mean if I took 10 shots or more per game i would have quite a few goals myself.

Ovechkin is a good player. He is having a good year. He leading the leaque goals. He is like 3rd in points, and he has lot's of moves. He makes diving goals, and works as hard as he can to score or to get the puck.

Not amazing as people think?
Ovechkin is one of the most electrifying players that the NHL has seen in the past few decades. He has incredible skill, is tough as nails, and plays with more passion that most other guys. Taking many shots doesnt guarantee goals. Ovechkin fights to get into empty space, and has the vision to see and make excellent plays on the ice. Theres obviously a reason that he is in the top 5 in scoring every year.
You can feel that his celebrations are over the top, considering he celebrates every goal he or his teammates score, but to me, that is genuine love of the game that is visibly missing in a lot of players.

I never said he was not an amazing player but i am saying he is not my cup of tea. You say his celebrations are a love for the game and sometimes it is necassary to go nuts like that but not on any random goal.
