i thought he had a great year getting on 2k. But in the playoffs not really that well but regular season did well. not that successful in playoffs though losing to the pen's

Personally I think Ovechkin could be such a good player but is lacking serious effort in the defensive zone which is hurting the caps. Even though he is an amazing scorer and probably the best in the league hands down he just isn't the complete player that he needs to be. Its a shame I thought by now he would learn that. I wish they would draft me and I will show him how its done.
Ovechkin's defensive play is under-rated. It's not hurting the Caps and he's improved on it a lot since he first entered the league. If he didn't, he wouldn't be out there killing penalties, now would he?
I agree he is extremly underrated defensivly, he gets a ton of takeaways and backchecks much more than people think, i'd say he had a great regular and post season. he's a good all around player and i feel he's the best in the game today. his mix of scoring and checking is personally my favorite part of his game, because i feel no one else comes even close two him when you combine those two categories

Lucic is probably the closest comparison, but he's not scoring 100+ points year in and year out.
