Joel Kwiatkowski:
ASSETS: Is mobile and moves the puck quickly and efficiently out of the defensive zone. Has the size every NHL scout looks for in a blueliner.
FLAWS: Doesn't use his size effectively enough. Doesn't put good enough offensive numbers to see regular power play minutes. Is prone to critical errors.
CAREER POTENTIAL: No. 6 or 7 defenseman.

Steve Montador(A north Van Boy):
ASSETS: Makes the most of his ability and has decent offensive skils. Shoots the puck with aplomb and can also deliver big hits.
FLAWS: Must make quicker decisions in order to play a regular role in the NHL. Is prone to making mistakes with the puck.
CAREER POTENTIAL: No. 6 or 7 defenseman.

Richard Jackman:
ASSETS: Has better-than-average offensive ability. Possesses a hard shot from the point and solid power-play instincts. Also owns a mean streak.
FLAWS: Needs more polish in the defensive aspects of the game. Must show more intensity and maturity on a regular basis.
CAREER POTENTIAL: Top six defenseman

Dallas Has one D-man too many and Jon Klemm might availbe another B.C Boy
Jon Klemm:
ASSETS: Is an extremely dedicated hockey player. Packs his lunch pail and does whatever is needed to help his team win. Has worked hard to become a valuable defensive defenseman.
FLAWS: Is a limited offensive player. Struggles when given too much of a workload and isn't suited to playing a starring role along the blueline.
CAREER POTENTIAL: Defensive defenseman.

New Jersey has extra d-man and they still have to get under the cap these players might be availbe:
Brad Lukowich:
ASSETS: Plays a smart, conservative game and doesn't take unnecessary chances. Possesses a good shot from the point.
FLAWS: Doesn't play with enough toughness. Has struggled with various systems in recent years, as he's moved around a lot.
CAREER POTENTIAL: Defensive defenseman

Paul Martin:
ASSETS: Has sound offensive instincts and a projectable frame. Owns good habits and winning attitude, which adds to his value.
FLAWS: Needs to add strength to better handle big forwards at the pro level. Must prove capable of becoming an offensive leader.
CAREER POTENTIAL: Top four defenseman

David Hale:
ASSETS: Has sound defensive instincts and the ability to punish forwards with big hits. Is mature beyond his years and rarely makes mistakes behind the blueline.
FLAWS: Must make quicker decisions with the puck in order to thrive in the pro game. Is limited in terms of offensive potential.
CAREER POTENTIAL: Top four defenseman.

Dan McGillis:
ASSETS: Has good skating ability, a great shot from the point and an all-around performer along the blueline. Is also a premier body-checking rearguard.
FLAWS: Isn't a natural power-play quarterback and is inconsistent on offense. Gets out of position on occasion in an attempt to make the big hit. CAREER POTENTIAL: Top six defenseman.

as much as i hate to say it, this team needs a sopel. with salo always an injury concern and, even if salo were more dependable we still need a second threat from the point, a guy like ric jackman or dan mcgillis or sean brown or, when he's healthy, yanick tremblay is an absolute necessity, despite whatever sopels the puck up the middle of the ice defensive shortcomings these players may have. you guys saw the game against dallas. the pp doesn't work without point men and we dearly need goals.
I doubt he hid it. There's probably not much that goes on with the players that the training staff doesn't know about. With Salo expected back soon, and Mitchell hopefully remaining symptom free, and Edler showing himself to be apparently NHL capable, I think that the year of UFA exemption on Bourdon is probably worth it.
