In your opinion do you think the Leafs have any hope of moving up in this draft and can pry the first or second pick away from the appropriate teams.
What would it take to get either of those.

Well thats the thing if they want the first or second pick its probably gonna go something like this Toronto's 7th overall Kaberle + Schenn ... and so on until its just ridiculous but the way i see it no matter what if Burke wants one of those picks hes gonna get ripped off i say keep the 7th and draft Magnus Svenson

the only two picks that seem to be for sale out of the six teams that are above us are LA 5, Phenoix 6, and of those the Phenoix one is the only one that would be remotely obtainable for the Leafs becasue we do not have the forward that would interest the Kings enough to move their pick.

As it stands I have read some rumblings that leafs could be picking 6th and 7th, if we are willing to lose Kaberle or Kubinia to Phenoix with an addition of Ponikarovshy, but I'm not sure that would work very well for Toronto. As it stands it looks like the Leafs are grabing Kulikov or Scheen, and for me I am happy with that.

What will be interesting is if we can turn our second rounders into something special, someone I would be hoping to see in the Leafs future is 20 year old Finnish Goaltender Mikko Koshkinin who has done nothing but destroied neigh-says limitations since he was first draft eligable.

An intersting theory.Trading Kaberle and Ponikorovski to Phoenix for the 6th pick wouldn't be a bad thing and would certainly give them cap space and additional options.

Well the thing is Kaberle's contract ends at the end of next season we could always try and resign him after. He said he wanted to stay in Toronto

True enough, Kubina is another story. If Toronto could unload his contract it would be less of an issue as I believe he's not as committed to the Leafs organization.

Kaberle has 2 years left.

Look, Kaberle had a bad year because he is distracted with all this talk about moving him. The FACT is that at his cap hit he is one of the best bargains in the game.

Would you rather have Campbell, Jovanovski, or McCabe?

They are all seriously overpriced. No point in moving Kaberle.

When you look around, Kubina's contract isn't that bad either. As a 1-2 pairing teams could do alot worse than Kabs and Kuby.

You ask Ovechkin if he would trade his Art Ross and Richard Trophies, to trade places with Sidney Crosby last June.

Kubina's contract is pretty bad. Honestly if it came down to Kubina and McCabe I would take McCabe any day. Even for a half million more.

But really this isn't about whether Kaberle and Kubina are bad players. This is about the team needing a change. Kubina has been on the team for 3 years and the team has missed the playoffs for 3 years. And the last of the 3 years he has had the his best point totals ever.

It is time for a change, and that means moving one of Kaberle and/or Kubina. Replace Kaberle? Nah. Sure try to sign Bouwmeester, but really its about giving someone like Stralman a shot, or more importantly change.

Now there is no talk of giving Kubina or Kaberle away for nothing... No no.

But would you trade Kubina (who is going into the last year of his contract I should add) for the 6th pick from Phoenix? That would give the Leafs the 6 and 7 pick.

Also I could be mistaken with Kubina, but I believe his no-trade kicks back in after Aug 15 and takes him through the end of the season. So if they don't move Kubina now, then they get nothing for him, and he is gone anyway at the end of the year.
