I thought we were in a rebuilding mode. Now Burke says the Leafs will be big spenders in the UFA market. WHY? PLanning on ruining a few more young players by giving their ice time to past-their-prime veterns in the hopes of sneaking into the post season?
So nothing has changed.
I just hope that he offers huge one year deals so that we are not screwed by the cap when it goes down in 10-11.

For resignings all there is is Garbovsky for 1 million, we have two holes on offence and if we add a star on defence it wouldn't be a bad roster. Camalleri reported wants 6 million a season, and Boumeester alnog the same lines.
I justify Boumeester playing second line duties becasue the guy has been previously outshined by Van RYn and McCabe both who fit into number 3-4 on our depth charts. In reality Boumeester has done little for the praise he has recieved he is simply put among the top defenders because of what people kno he can do. That being said if he ever played with a deep defensive core where he wasn't the focal pioint every night he might actual blossom into the player he is said to be come.

I really love these lines but the thing is I don't think we want Schenner playing 5-6 defence man minutes and White has proved in my eyes to be a 3-4 defender. Considering Van Ryn doesnt stay healthy and that we are paying Finger 3 million i can see us not signing Bouwmester. They problem with the leafs forwards is we actually have quite a bit of depth when you look at it with these guys. Poni should be playing 2nd line minutes but so should Grabovsky, Blake, Hagman, possibly Stempniak and Kulemin if they produce at what they should be capable of. But i hope u get wut im saying you can't justify the Leafs forward lines just yet especially if we draft Sven who could be playing 2nd line minutes too.

IF Burke signs anyone to more than a 1 year deal he is an idiot. He will screw the cap for 10-11 if he signs these overpriced UFA's longterm.
Leave Bouwmeester and his 6+M salary demands in Florida. The Twins can stay in Vancouver too.
Stand pat and keep a ton of cap room open for 10-11 and then poach off teams like Philly who are going to be absolutly screwed by the cap.
