Default Burke approaching Islanders and Lightning for 1st or 2nd overall pick

TML GM Brian Burke has approached both the islanders and lightning about trading up for a crack at the two top picks this year what do you think he'll have to give to receive either of these picks ?

HE will have to give up far to much to get what is essentially an unknown.

Keep the #7 pick and what few assets we have thank you very much.

It only took a few months before Burke the rebuilder became just another Toronto GM obsessed with making the playoffs every year and willing to give away the farm to try and do it. It is the same mentality that landed us in this mess in the first place and I hope he gives his head a shake and gets a clue because my patience with him is already wearing thin.

Unless Burke gives up the pick, and either Schenn plus another first rounder, or Kaberle or Kubina, I dont think he has any chance of securing that pick.
It would be a pretty bad trade on Toronto's part.

Nothing that either team could use, that's the problem. Them again the Islanders are in the mix, and they're just as bad at making dumb deals as the Leafs so....

As echoed previously, if this is what Burke is bringing to the Leafs, it's going to be more of "meet the new boss, same as the old boss". Makes you wonder if maybe that Anaheim team he was in charge with was already set by the time he arrived.

If he could stand up for himself he'd still be in Edmonton.

The Islanders have the number one overall pick, the San Jose Shark's first round pick, and three second round picks. They need to use those picks and keep rebuilding and getting good youth. Trading the pick would be stupid.

Burke is a punk. He left Anaheim for a reason. Just watch what happens to them this offseason. They are going to lose a lot of their UFA's.

Burke pretty much left the team for dead.

this is a tough one, i applaud Burke for going for the picks although it's hard to think that they would give up their picks, unfortunatly for Toronto i think Schenn will end up in a deal if the NYI or Tampa Bay does give up a pick though.

All he did was approach them. I mean wouldn't you be pissed as a fan if he did nothing? I have a feeling they will package Kaberle to move up but maybe not to the top 3. LA could use Kaberle.

The funny thing is that I remember he did something similar with Vancouver too? If he didnt' have that ring the league gave him, I wonder what his reputation would be?

Considering the track record for what Toronto Gm's have needed up with when they tried to get something I would rather have them sit on their hands right now. They could have a slim chance if LA got the first pick and for some reason figured Kaberle was equal to Travarez....but again that's a wee bit of a leap.

Considering it' the Islanders nothing is outside the realm of possibility.
