Default First day acquisitions

So on the first day of free agency we get CuJo, Finger and Hagman. Can't say I'm happy at all with these signings. Finger and Hagman seem way too overpaid and I think Pogge should have a shot at being the backup goalie next season.

Don't really know what Cliff is thinking here. Even if he is banking on Finger and Hagman picking up their game in the next couple years, was it necessary to sign them to such large contracts at the moment? I think it's safe to say no other teams offered these guys nearly as much as they're going to get from the Leafs. The only silver lining I can see out of this is everytime Jeff Finger lays a hit on anybody, all the fans at the ACC can shout out "YOU JUST GOT FINGERED!"

CuJo, although I don't agree with the move, is more understandable. He was had for quite cheap and will definitely be a solid backup. This way Pogge gets regular with the Marlies and is possibly called up and gets a shot at the big league if Toskala or CuJo get injured.

Pogge should not waste a season playing only ten games when he can play 82 plus playoffs in the Marlies, lets give him a chance to own the minors and when toskala is ready to leave we spend a season platooning the two, if Pogge ever plays second fiddle, it will be precious years lossed in development and confidence. I don't disagree he should maybe see a game or two this season, give him a taste but don't waste all that talent on the bench.

As for Finger, kill me.

As for Hagman, I can handle it though I'd rather his roster spot went to Earl or Williams.

I have no idea who those two ppl are, but considering that one of them was making less than a million and now he's with us for 4 years making 3 million a year he betterbe pretty darn good.

as for Cujo... *spit*.
Still not happy with him still not liking him, but whatever. If it makes Pogge better (because he'll be down in Marlie-land) whatev.

Cujo and Hagman were good signings. Finger is a wait and see. The guy is solid defensively, but he has very little NHL experience and is like 28. A huge leap of faith by Fletcher. Hopefully it pays off.

I'm fine with Hagman and Cujo. Finger I'm a little confused... He doesn't seem to be anything special, and looks quite expensive.

My question is, if the Leafs end up having to buy out McCabe, then is 3.5 (Salary) + 2 (Roughly McCabe buyout) for Finger really that much better than 5.75 for McCabe?

I thought overall the Leafs picked up some decent players. Cujo is a good backup-but thats it. I agree with everyone else, Finger is a total leap of faith. I'm not really happy with that pick up.

Yes! Curtis "CuJo" Joseph! Awesomeness!!! I'm glad he's back. This is the only place where he really belonged if you ask me.

And he's cheap. Very very cheap... yet good. And yes, this move was made to keep Pogge down one more year so that he gets to start for the Marlies this year, no question. Hopefully he'll get to start a few games for the Leafs this year as well.

It should have happened this past season, but low and behold they found a way to stop it. Somehow, someway, they always find a way. *shakes head*

As for Jeff Finger:

Who on earth is Jeff Finger?

Just kidding. I heard a lot about him this past season, but I haven't seen him play. If he's a solid defencive defenceman, than I don't mind having him on the club. I don't like is the price tag and length. Is he really worth 4 years at $14M? How good is this guy? There's been good, but there was also some complaining about his defencive game (I've been reading around), and I'm sure it's no secret how much I hate that in a defenceman of all players.
