Okay - two years ago (or whatever), he wasn't sure if he was going to come back, he had entertained offers from other teams, and he talked to JFJ first, they got a deal, and he came back.
Whoever has a big mouth in MLSE likes to tell everyone the GM's buisness (I've heard McCabe's been asked to consider that stupid No Movement clause...).
Now - It is in any GM's right to ask a player who has a NTC or a NMC if they mind letting it go so they can get something back in return. Cliff asked Mats said no, end of story. Knowing Mats history I doubt this is going to be Like Joseph saying I wanna stay in Toronto, I want to stay in Toronto, I'll work a deal, if the money is right, He got te deal, he got the money and he flipped us the bird while he went skedaddling to the Wings.
With Mats: I think the first decision is is he coming BACK. If he comes back (and if i remember, he kinda made that decision in August last time he was UFA-eligable) the first thing he'll do is tell Cliff. And I think just because he's a classy guy, he's probably going to tell cliff sooner or later before they can't get anyone else. (Now - I know it was kinda hopeful, wishful thinking but LOL ibet if they got Hossa or another good winger that would PROBABLY make him more eager to come back).
