Wellwood and Raycroft have been put on Waivers.

Personally I would hold onto Wellwood until he is over this injury bug problem, when healthy he is a fair player.

Raycroft was a waste of a good young goalie, but when you look at the time we could give him up as we have a bonifide future goalie in Pogge.

Wellwood starts off his career well with 1 good year, then improves with an excellent season the next year, and then has 1 bad year... and suddenly he's put on waivers?

Obviously I'm not a fan of this.

I don't care if Raycroft is gone though.

Whoever picks up Wellwood is going to get a deal. The kid had an off year and they're dumping him. Watch him win a Cup with another team in the next 5 years.

Wellwood is mssively over wieght, and has shown little in the way of making physical improvements.

The Wellwood buyout seems a bit too hasty to me, but I trust Fletcher's got much more knowledge of managing a team than I do. It's just been announced that he's also going to buy out Tucker's contract, which leaves me thinking what options we have left.

As far as trades go, I don't see us getting anything big for what assets we have unless some of our high paid players are willing to waive their no-trade clause. Am I right to assume we're just going to tank this season for a shot at an even higher pick next year? Frankly, I'd love to see this happen as long as we don't end up with Tavares, but it'd just be nice to pick up even more prospects along the way. Can Fletcher pull off a trade with the players we have right now though?
