Default Luke Schenn!

We just traded up for 5th pick and got Luke Schenn! So psyched this happened! This guy looks like he's the real deal, I just hope they don't rush him to the NHL with a crappy Leafs team that'll just lose a lot next year.

Yes. I like this move.

This is well worth the loss of a 2nd and 3rd round pick.

Welcome to Toronto Human Erassure!!

Yup you guys got a keeper there.!!

The guy is defensively sound and knows how to look after his own end of the rink.

Althou he doesn't show it often he does have an offensive up side .

Oh ya and when the gloves need to come off he\s a pleasant suprise being a lefty and all.

Only down side of this for luke is well quite frankly he landed in leaf land where young dreams can get stomped and ended in a hurry.

I hope they give the kid a fair shake.

IMO, the guy is the most likely to bust out of the top 5. I thought they would have done better to draft Filatov.

I think you may have a point, after losing top offensive talent up front (assuming Sundin leaves) the Leafs dont have a top line center or even a 2nd line center or even a top potential forward (unless you count Tlusty).

Anyway, I'm certainly not gonna complain with Schenn. He was a fantastic player at teh Jrs and I only hear good things about him.

This guy may not be what the Leafs need, but I don't think that he will be a bust.

He is what he is, a phenomenal defensive player. He won't be flashy, but he is very good defensively.

This type of player as long as expectations are kept in check is very rarely a bust. Offensive players with lost of flair sometimes find that their skills don't translate.

Andrew Ladd, Nikolai Zherdev, Alex Daigle, Scottie Upshall, Anthony Stewart

are all exceptional offensive players who's skills just didn't translate well to the NHL.

I would think that Filatov, especially considering his size, and the Continental League was a much bigger risk than Schenn.

I must say I was absolutely ecstatic when the Leafs drafted Schenn.

As I said before finally a blue chip prospect. Give the kid one more year, get him a haircut, and put him on the blueline!

I think him and Stralman could be a fantastic duo.

Honestly, if we can pick up a centermen (young), get ride of Kaberle ( he would get us some value), Kubina and McCabe, our blue line could be pretty solid in a few years.

Kronwall is a very good DD
Schenn is a fantastic DD
Stralhman is a OD
Coliacovo is a OD (god if he could stay healthy, he'd be be fantastic 3rd defensemen).

Thats a pretty solid top 4, and thats not including UFA's or other prospects who might emmerge.

Apart from goaltending, I think the Leafs need to build on every part of the game. IMO drafting a solid Canadian D-man is better than taking a risk with a Russian no matter how much he says he wants to play in the NHL.

The Leafs rebuilding process is going to take more than drafting a couple players, give Fletcher time and I trust he can deliver some offensive power to the team.
