It was a bittersweet weekend, whereas I am totally pumped with drafting Schenn, it pains me to see that for all intense purposes Mats has been helped to the door.

The Leafs drafted a Canadian kid first overall?

They must be serious about rebuilding...

Agreed.

That, and Leafs need a big strong stay at home defenceman that will finally hit somebody out there and have needed one for years.

I don't care less about his offencive game - and I mean it. If he gets 10-20 points a season but plays like an absolute rock in his own end of the rink, I'll be thrilled. It's about freakin' time if you ask me!

Stay the heck away from my goalie you son of a gun!:
Schenn a few years from now (hopefully sooner)------>--^

I am really happy with that draft. The Leafs took a big step forward and filled a great need. Now we just have to wait and see what happens with Mats...

You guys all seem fairly impressed with Schenn's potential. Not sure why I have it in my head that he isn't all that impressive, but that impression just won't go away. Hopefully I will be proven wrong, which is of course quite likely. I'm not exactly good at forecasting a prospects potential.
