So Burke's not leaving the Anaheim
Who's next one all your lists? I sure hope we manage to pry away Ken Holland from Detroit!

Holland will not be leaving Detroit, Illich would never grant them permission to speak to him. Move on to the next candidate.

Jim Nill would be a good starting point. Or Burkes right hand man McNabb. Perhaps both, as GM and AGM.

Again, they would need Illitch's approval to talk to Nill, and why would he grant that?

Yep, that's what i get for listning to t.o. newspapers.
I don't think they'll be able to get a guy who's under contract, peddie has to go or they won't get those type of guys. There are good guys not working right now. I wonder if they want collin cambell.

Historically owners have always allowed guys to talk to other teams, especially if its a promotional situation because owners don't want reputations that they are stifling people's careers.

Realistically speaking, what do you guys think the chances are of Peddie actually letting the new GM have full autonomy of the team?

I never expected Burke to leave Anaheim. It was more media hoopla to bring the Leafs back into the news during the NHL Playoffs. Nothing more.
They're also continuing to play up the talks of Fabian Brunnstrom heading to the train wreck that is Toronto. I'd be surprised if he wanted to join the mess known as the Toronto Maple Leafs rather than a winning organisation such as the Detroit Red Wings.

Let's just hope the league is smart enough to ban Fletcher and Burke from swinging any deals this year. It would be absolute BS to allow Burke to set himself up in Toronto by shipping players like Perry and Pronger there a year before he takes over as GM.
