Fabian Brunnstrom
Just came up on the intermission of the caps game that the Leafs are in the frontrunning for Brunnstrom. Heard his name being thrown around and now that Nonis is fired seems like Leafs have the best shot at him.
Here's a clip I found of his play. Getting me excited for next year already!! =)

I'd be surprised if he ended up going to the Leafs.

Why is that?
The Leafs have the money to offer. The position he wants and Swedish influence through and through (Selming, Sundin, Steen, Kronwall, Stralhman...)

From interviews he's given and the demands he wants, he just comes across awfully arrogant and no offense, but is he willing to go to a team in the condition the Leafs are in? A team that's had its issues lately with power struggles?
There simply isn't a whole lot going for the Leafs right now and I would expect him to go to a team with a lot of upside if it's not a contender from the start.

What kinda contender is gonna offer big money and top 6 minutes to an undrafted rookie. With his demands, only teams with serious problems are going to fit the bill.

The only reason he would go to the leafs is cuz he would get front time playing time.

I don't know, I could see him going to Nashville or another 8th or 9th place team that at least has some immediate upside.
He's put himself in a tough spot, almost as if he doesn't even want to come to the NHL. Sounds like it's only going to be for the right deal.
Boston might be a team I could see him going to, but wasn't that the team who had his rights to begin with?

He would like to go to a big hockey market, that has had Swedish influence... Detroit, Toronto, Vancouver...
He wants to go where the money is, and a top 6 minutes... which eliminates Detroit... So Vancouver or Toronto.
Vancouver seems to be in diseray, and who knows what Gilles will do, which does make Toronto in front runner.

Politely, I'll say Toronto is in the same boat as Vancouver. Really, what can they actually get done this summer to get this team close to competitive? Let's be realistic. They have a number of aging, underperforming players and there's still all that hope and dependency loaded onto Sundin's shoulders. Goaltending is a disaster for them right now and their defense needs desperate help.
