Cliff Fletcher
Let me start off this thread by saying that Cliff Fletcher had every right to be pissed off yesterday during his post deadline day press conference.
However with his comments he has created the worst possible attitude for this team. He has created an us vs them attitude that can quite possibly rally the players more then then they already are (4 out the last 6 games are wins) The next 3 games are very winnable and its quite possible that the leafs could be 1 or 2 points out of 8th place with still 15 games to play by Sunday morning.
Fletcher has opened his play book for all to see and IMO this will be a mistake that he will regret. He would have better served this team by keeping his trap shut and his plans close to the vest.

Your right right that Fletch had every right to be pissed off being swung around with guys like Kubina saying that they would be willing the waive their NTC and back out after the last game before the deadline. He mentioned that their would be drastic changes to the roster before next season. Im thinking that hes going to trade alot of these guys before the draft to draft some top prospects or buy out some guys contracts. He did the best he was able to do on deadline day and had every right to be frustrated

I'm glad he let everybody know he was pissed. I was willing to accept Mats not waiving, and could accept Tucker, McCabe and Kabs. But Kubina to be a whiny bitch and accept then renege. I WANT HIM GONE!
I hope they trade him during his window, and barring that send him to the marlies. He wants to be in Toronto so bad, Toronto Marlies may not look as good.

If the Leafs do make the playoffs, isn't there a window still opened, but only from draft day to someday in August? Or am I gettinh my stories mixed up here?

Pretty blunt on saying there was no interest in McCabe. Why would there have been. Who the heck would have wanted anything to do with a 7+ million contract for a minor league player.
Fletcher seemed frustrate but MLSE has no one to blame but themselves for allowing these players to have no trade clauses.

C'mon, besides that shot he leased out last year, must have been a stipulation in the lease stating he could only use it on the pp, the guy is terrible.
Can't skate backwards (you'd think he could being a defenseman), can't check legally (can-opener).
I'd like to know wht team and what gm offered him more money AND does this gm still have his job?

Ditto. Bryan McCabe is one of the most overrated players I have EVER heard of. It's ridiculous the praise this guy gets.
Not only is he not good defencively; he's horrible! He's a defencive liability. And it's true, he can't hit - I've been saying that for years. I't'll be hard to find any footage of him throwing a shoulder-to-shoulder check, because there probably isn't one. He can't do one, and I doubt anyone will be able to show one.
He also makes the same mistakes over and over and over again, year after year, after year like he's 28 or something. What kind of veteran defenceman is that? This guy is a bottom pairing defenceman at best. He's one of those players who should be limited to 10 minutes a game and mostly used on the powerplay only (if at all), yet he makes what $5.75M-$7.15M? (I've heard a million different numbers in that range). This guy should be making $1M-$3M and bouncing about from team to team as an "extra". It's only because he's on the Leafs that he's been able to keep above surface for so long. They've had 3 chances since 2003 to dump this guy, but they just don't want to let him go - as if other teams are ever lined up for his services.
But that's what always happens. We overrate our players. If Fletcher could have let him for for free or waived him or anything (except the dreaded buyout if it hurts them too much cap-wise), I'd hope it goes through, but alas, it wasn't meant to be.
