Leafs in definite best interest to tank the season and finish in last place
If we tank the season and finish in last, we have best chance of getting a first place pick in the draft, instead of just struggling and rather getting a slightly worse pick all for nothing.
Plus we trade sundin, get some draft picks/prospects in, he comes back in the summer and finishes his career here possibly, and we got ourselves some real guys to work with.
Way better than finishing 13th in the east... and getting some random dude.

Obviously I dont mean go out there and sit back and lose 15-0...
Play a good game, but no sense of urgency, play for fun and take it very easy. Let 3-4th line guys play just a tiny bit more. Way things are going however...I'd say even with leafs trying hard still a nice chance of finishing last regardless.
For now lets cheer LA.

Thing is, last season Philly just plain out sucked.
The Leafs this season, actually have a bit of skill, and lose a lot of tough / close games.
Futhermore, trading Forsberg, sounds to me like, indirectly tanking a season. They did get a good deal, but when a team trades their star player, its for the team to lose and rebuild ( can even think EDM). Luckly for Philly, they have young assets like Richards and Carter. Leafs have none. The Leafs will not make the playoffs, for the next 3 seasons with the current team, and with the aging superstar, its time for the Leafs to rebuild.

Sorry not even close. To rebuild yes, to purposely lose never.!! and purposely losing is what farzamk is asking of the Leaf.Again theres a huge difference between rebuilding and losing on purpose to better yourself in the draft.
