I heard the exact opposite. He repeatedly turned down the Leafs.
That's more likely just the MLSE at their finest. They don't take the blame for anything, and they continue to throw JFJ to the wolves - that is, the media and us fans:
Yes, they turned down Scotty Bowman. JFJ himself may be to blame for some of the moves that he has made, but by now it's pretty cler that he has little control over what he actually does.
If he had any guts then he'd step down before all respect that he had before running this circus is lost (if it isn't already).

SAN JOSE, Calif. -- John Ferguson still has a job. But he has no real power left.
That was made abundantly clear yesterday when Maple Leafs president Richard Peddie - the same man who called the hiring of Ferguson a "mistake" earlier this season - said that the team's general manager does not have the authority to fire head coach Paul Maurice.
"No," Peddie said firmly before boarding a bus with the team outside a downtown Los Angeles hotel. "Major, major changes (Ferguson) would have to bring to the (MLSE) board."
Peddie also made it clear that permission to make a coaching change could not be acquired by Ferguson through an emergency conference call involving board members or some other form of electronic discussion. "It would be encompassed by a full review at the board," Peddie said.

Wasn't bad but the league still should fine him for the lack of respect towards an official. ( At least to keep the little credibility they still have )
Agreed. As mentioned earlier it didnt' look to be deliberate, but I thikn he had enough time to stop himself.

Next time Montreal is playing I'll e-mail you to see if you're watching, just to see if this is true.

The last I heard was that Bowman turned down the Leafs...well that was before I saw the interview with Ron McClean lol. I can't believe the Leafs said no...
The 'Canes visiting Toronto tonight and Carolina better not screw things up now.
They have my orders; They know what to do.

That, or the MLSE caught on and outdid my offer to the 'Canes. Everyone knows how deep their pockets are.
Rutherford, you son of a gun!!!
It looks like I'll be making that phone call to Asset #3 afterall....

You know whats really disturbing, the leafs are still only 6 points from a playoff spot, and 4 from having more balls in the lottery then any other team in the league.
