Ya, 7-1 now. But I think that the Leafs can only blame 1 goal on Toskala, and even then it was a result of a mistake made by one of the other Leafs players first.

So... how many people think they'll win the Cup this year. I think they solidified their position as contenders tonight. I have full confidence in them.

Back to reality...

Paul Maurice summed it up pretty well in the post-game press conference.

It was something like: "We suck, and there's nothing we can do about it. At least Toskala made it look like only a small disaster, rather than complete annihilation. We're so screwed this year, but it's okay - I had a Subway"

Well, he didn't exactly put it that way, but he could have said anything there and it'd of sounded pretty close to this.

Not sure what the Leafs will do now? Teams seem to just skate circles around them, they have no speed to speak of, yes Blake, but if no one can keep up with him, what's the point?

They have no game plan what-so-ever, their all over the place. It's really quit comical to watch them play.

And then there's Sundin, the best thing to happen since sliced bread (as almost every Toronto fan thinks). If he's such a great captain, why can't he get his team going in the right direction, especially when you see the goals going in like tonight.

I understand it's only their 4th game, and I don't mean any of this stuff as a jab, but in all honesty, where do you see this team ending up this year?

So it was a 7-1 final. I went to bet at 4-1 and cried myself to sleep. Line shuffle should be in order today at practice.

I hoped for a high scoring 'Canes win last night so that i would get results on both hockey pools (Sundin and Hurricanes were my picks..) Wasn't quite the high score i was thinking though.

So, how did this happen?? I watched the first period, and i was REALLY surprised to see such a high scoring loss for the Leafs. I mean, they weren't great in what i saw in the first and the 'Canes were probably the better team, but they had quite a few good chances and it looked promising for them.

From what isaw Toskala also played very very well. Loved that save when he was going right and swept his left pad back across the goal to make the save. If the Leafs can tighten up defensively quickly then i think they can go somewhere this season as Toskala is quite a solid goaltender despite the loss of the 7 goals. But, if the team is going to let in another 7 goals in a game then sorry, but they have no chance.

Well, at least we can take comfort in knowing that the ugliest game of the season is behind us ... God, I hope hope that was the ugliest game of the season anyway.

Anybody catch the post-game interview with Mats? I can't remember ever seeing him mad enough to swear in an interview ("That was a horse s#%t game all around").

Ponikarovsky got hurt in practice today so the Leafs have called up Simon Gamache and Anton Stralman.I'm guessing there will be a different lineup vs the Islanders on Thursday.

Cheers

He's tied for 3rd in the NHL in scoring and is top 10 in PPG.

What the hell do people want from him?

Also he is tied for second in the league in +/- and his linemate (Antropov) is leading the league in +/-. The problem is pretty obviously not when Sundin is on the ice.
