Bryan McCabe out 6-8 weeks
http://sports.sympatico.msn.cbc.ca/T...=mccabe-injury
Quote:
The Toronto Maple Leafs defenceman is expected to miss up to eight weeks after breaking his left hand in three places in the third period of his team's 4-1 loss to Montreal on Saturday night.
That injury occurred on a seemingly innocuous play involving Habs' winger Andrei Kastsitsyn along the boards just inside the Toronto end. The players got tangled and somehow McCabe lost his footing and fell awkwardly into the boards with his hand taking most of the impact, bending it forward.
After going directly to the dressing room, he was quickly X-rayed by the Canadiens' medical team.
Toronto officials said he will miss a minimum of six weeks.
Coach Paul Maurice was livid after the game, putting the blame on Kastsitsyn, whom he accused of "horse collaring" the defenceman.
"He's too good a player to miss that much time after a [expletive] play like that," Maurice said.
But Montreal coach Guy Carbonneau said he watched the replay and "there was nothing wrong with it."
McCabe has a lengthy history of injuries during his time in Toronto.
In 2002, he broke a foot and then missed significant time a year later with a knee injury.
Last season, a groin problem kept him out and earlier this year it was seven games on the shelf when the groin was hurt again.

McCabe has been playing very well as of late for the leafs and I would say he is a big loss right now for the team.

He starts to play well then this happens.
He has been eating minutes lately, and covering up for others errors. This is just brutal news.

Seriously...I think Andy Wozniewsky made a deal with the devil and sold his soul for a spot on the leafs... Im a mccabe basher.. Im a homer, im from klzen(close to pilsen home of best beer in the world) and I love Kaberle and Mccabe is his competition but this is a big lost for OUR team. This is real bad. Kabs has been out of form and Mccabe takes the blame for it.
As far as Mccabe run of luck..yeah he was starting to win some of the haters over.. BRING UP KRONWALL DAMIT.

Err... McCabe is his partner and team mate. His "competition" are the guys in the jerseys without the Maple Leaf on the front.
Tough break for McCabe. We survived without Kubina for a bit, we'll survive 6-8 weeks without McCabe, but damn... he was a big part of the reason why we had been winning so much lately.

As it is with anything thats leaf, the rumours start. Not sure who goes to Phoenix, but Derek Morris comes to TO, Raycroft goes on waivers, gets called back and is picked off by Pittsburgh.
Of course this is all as per EK. I hope this doesn't happen, the Leafs are going to need Raycroft down the stretch, unless PM decides to do to Vesa what he did to Rayzor last year. Which is alos a bad idea.

What the EFF is that!?! We don't need another defenceman!!?! With Kubina and Kabby McCabe's minutes can be spread out nicely, and Stralman and/or Kronwall will fill in solidly, but not exactly spectacurlarly ... albeit, Stralman has a chance offensively if he doesn't eff up on the d side at the same time ....
but really, dropping raycroft and trading for a defencemen? that's the LAST thing I hope JFJ does.
