Just wondering...
We have all heard the rumours of Vinny being dealt and some have linked this to the Leafs.
Tampa needs a tender in the worst way. How would the rest of my fellow leafers feel if we send Toskala, White, and Tlusty for Lecavalier and a 2008 1st round pick. (But only if Vinny extends his contract)
I think I might do it.
Place Raycroft on waivers and immediately call up Pogge and Clemmonson and Stralman.

A goaltending tandem of Pogge and Clemmenson? Justin's definitely not ready to make the leap, even as a back up. I think our goaltending would be even worse than the last two years. Do you believe Clemmenson has what it takes to be a decent #1 in this league? Nothing I've seen or heard about him suggests that, so I'm curious about what you've seen. Although it would be sweet to see Lecavalier in a Leafs jersey.

Its all about rebuilding for me. With Vinny and signed long term, our 1st, and Tampa`s 1st in the deep upcoming draft would be a step in the right direction.

The thing is Vinny isn't signed long term. He is free agent after next season.

And that is the only thing holding me back from this idea. Vinny would have to be signed long term before this happened.

I don't think it happens. Vinny is going to Montreal. Where he will crumble under the pressure.
When is Raycroft going on waivers? Soon I hope, regardless of whether the Leafs make any other moves.

Thats a good one but im sure they would.. THey dying to get ride of ryder it seems. Is this trade gonna happen this year though? I think we are talking a trade that will happen trade deadline next year. I just dont know how they are going to sell it to their fans. Trading away the leading goal scorer in the league.. Maybe i underestimate the state of hockey in florida but according to espn tampa bay draws more fans then toronto and are only behind detriot and montreal... I guess its the size of the rink? thats a tough sell to those fans though.. I wouldnt trade tlusty and vesa id build around Vesa Toskala. Thats like going back to our old ways. we need to rebuild and stop using bandaids..
Go after hossa though.. He is going to be cheaper and send f***** Wozniewsky down already dam! His mess up cost toskala a shutout last night.I hope we dont go after marleau right now though id send steen, klummin and earl over in a heartbeat for him

IMHO that's not enough for Vinny. I mean it helps get rid of Toskala's $4M contract to help cover Vinny's outrageous contract he will get as either as a UFA or before he's eligible. But still I believe Tampa would ask for more than that especially for a first round going the other way. Maybe w/o the pick going the other way it's more fair.

If Vinny ever does get traded, and I have some serious doubts, I have a feeling the trade might end up like the Thornton one.
