well....on the positive side he signed antropov when most of us were calling for his head and that has turned out pretty well. He went out and got a scoring winger (blake) and a franchise goaltender(s) in raycroft and when rayzor didnt get the job done got Toskala who has been pretty good.

Negative...He sucks at contracts.. Blake and Mccabe are overpaid. The case could be made about Tucker (I think its ok)
He sells the future for the present. Set up the slowest d core in the league.

SHOULD HAVE SIGNED PETR SYKORA!!!!!

Has yet to find a way to assassinate Richard Peddie.

Default Ferguson Think For The Future Or Get Out!

Ferguson thinks in the right now not for the future. From what notice Leafs haven't drafted so well the last couple years and didn't he give a lot of good draft pick potential for someone recently? Not smart if I am right!

Let's see here..

JFJ has traded valuable young players and draft picks that he said he would keep.

Let me tell you some of the awful things he came up with:

1. Andrew Raycroft for Tuukka Rask (Raycroft is a backup, Tuukka will be a good starter, if not great)

2. Jeff O'Neill for 4th rounder (Where is O'neill now? He's not playing on an NHL team)

3. 2005- Signing Eric Lindros PERIOD. (Injury prone, retired)

4. Yanic Perreault and 5th rounder for Brendan Bell and 2nd rounder (only the 2nd and 5th rounder are still with the team, but then we see Martin Biron going for only a 2nd rounder!)

5. Tons of OVERPAID no-trade and no-movement clauses are making Toronto's future look bad.

Quote:
Cap Hits:

Bryan McCabe $5.75 million (10th among D. More than Souray, T. Kaberle, and Norstrom)

Pavel Kubina $5.00 million (16 among D. More than T. Kaberle, Norstrom, and Zubov)

Vesa Toskala $1.375 million this year, $4.00 million next year (34th among G this year. 11th among G next year. More than Emery, Miller, and Ward)

Jason Blake $4.00 million (14th among LW. More than Ovechkin, D. Sedin, and J. Jokinen)

Darcy Tucker $3.00 million (26th among LW. More than Frolov, Zetterberg, and Zherdev)

Andrew Raycroft $2.00 million (28th among G. More than Lehtonen, C. Mason, and Leclaire)

They're still paying Ed Belfour $770,000 for this year!
(cap hits from nhlnumbers.com)

The only good move was Antropov for $2.05 million, and that was pretty lucky.

Come on. The majority of those salaries you can't compare to other players as a lot of them will be receiving big bucks in the near future. You have to overpay in the new NHL to attract UFA's.

So you're saying you would do these stupid deals?

You just don't pay McCabe $5.75 million and give him a no-trade clause, never mind a no-movement clause just because he wants it. That's like letting Hitler take over the world. You just don't give in.

True that the guys I mentioned will get paid more, but not all of them. I could go into mentioning players that got paid cheaper long term, but I don't want to spend my valuable life giving you examples when you could check yourself.
