Possible GM/Coaching/President Canditates: Let's throw some names around
Not that it's guaranteed that the Leafs will be making any changes to these positions any time soon (if at all this year), but with the problems that this team is facing, I think many of us would want to see some changes at the higher ranks of this team.
So... what are some good names you want in the mix? Who are the most likely to get one of the jobs, or at least somewhat have a chance at them?
You can be a bit more descriptive than this if you want. Maybe add in an Ownership change if you want. Go nuts.
I'll start things off here:
Doug Gilmour, Pat Burns....

Take it for what it's worth, but this from Sportsnet / the Sun:
Quote:
The Maple Leafs will not make a move to fire general manager John Ferguson unless they can secure a star replacement. And the rumoured list is pretty impressive.
As reported in Sunday's Toronto Sun, word around the league suggests that the Leafs will only make a move in the GM position if they can land a star name such as Mark Messier, Ron Francis or Steve Yzerman.
"The Leafs need to have somebody with star power," said an NHL executive to the Sun.
"If they're going to put somebody into that seat who hasn't done it before, they need to have a marquee name."

Can't imagine Stevie Y leaving the Wings organization, but those are some interesting possibilities. Only problem being that there's no real reason to believe that a star player is going to make a good GM... if they hire someone like that, they'd be doing purely for marketing purposes. Having said that, we could probably do worse than bringing one of those three in to the fold.

If Yzerman left the Wings to be GM in Toronto.... I'd be severely disappointed and very surprised. The guy has done so much for the Wings organization, I just don't see him deciding that he wants to leave it behind.

John Ferguson Jr. is rejecting a report in Monday's edition of the Toronto Sun that claimed the Maple Leafs' general manager tried to have head coach Paul Maurice fired late last week.
Sun columnist Steve Simmons wrote that a source told him Ferguson tried to fire Maurice, but was "prevented" from doing so.
"There isn't a shred of truth to that assertion," Ferguson told TSN. "This is made up, its a complete fabrication."
The Leafs' weekend did not go well, with loses in Dallas and Phoenix, and Simmons indicated that Ferguson might try to pull the trigger again.
The potential changes could even involve some kind of management committee that could include names like Mark Messier, Joe Nieuwendyk and Glenn Healy.
President of Maple Leafs Sports and Entertainment Richard Peddie said that he won't be making any hasty decisions.
"We're trying not to be reactionary in this tough time," Peddie told The Canadian Press. "The fact is John is under contract and we want him and Paul focused on winning hockey games and turning around this situation."
In his Toronto Sun report, Simmons also suggested this could be Ferguson's last week on the job.

Personally I would love to have Bowman as GM, and if Petty would give him complete reign over the club, like what happened with Calangolo and the Raptors, than he would mostly likely take the job.

Glen Hanlon for coach? He royally messed up in Washington. Sorry, I wouldn't have him anywhere close to the ACC. I would much rather have Pat Burns back. He could make Toskala or even Raycroft look like the next Ed Belfour with the team defense he preaches.

I think Burnsy could turn this team on its ear. He doesn't have the ability to bring this current group of players long term success, but short term credibility to at least raise the stock of some people. He could do if for sure.
Yay Burns, Boooo MoMaurice.
