Burke is a bona fide GM and him taking a assistant GM job would be a step backwards for him so wouldn't be a good fit in T.O.!
He had a GM job before becoming the VP and director of hockey operations for the NHL. Is that a step up or a step down? Anyway, it was just an idea. I'm not so sure JFJ can improve this team and do what's necessary for the Leafs to become a TRUE contender and/or rebuild into a successful Cup Finalist team.
I'm not too sure either whether or not JFJ can do whats neccessary to get this team to the Finals. He made great moves in picking up Neiwy and Kilger off waivers but totally baffled me with his signing of Calle Johansson, trading of Jackman for Berehowsky, trade for Brian Leetch and then basically doing nothing to improve in the areas that we needed improving on.If you're not going to fully improve the team then what was the point in picking up Leetch and his 6.5 million dollar salary for?
Cheers

To make Leaf fans believe they have a chance at the cup.

Well JFJ was trying to not lose anyone of the current roster so they could keep the same team chemistry. I thought he did a good job of doing that.
But I think having to much was a bad idea, because then alot more got scratched and made some guys mad.
Yes, very true. But sadly, that's where he went wrong. This team had so many uneeded players, like.....
But still, he has a whole off-season to do something this time around. Let's just hope for the best.

I think JFJ knew he had some usless players...but comon who really wants to take berg? or Renberg?
Even if he did get rid of them, I think he was trying to tred in safe waters and not ruffle up anything in his first year. Plus with media, if he got rid of someone like berg or reichel or renberg media would be over him.
Ill enjoy to see the summer when he doesnt have to worry about trading them away. Coz now he just doesnt need to re-sign them and there is alot of money now to go after some better players like foote.
again, with the jackman thing i think it's self explanatory.
the team has a bad history of bad dressing room especially when it comes to ice time.
jackman was whining about not playing
ferguson trades him
boom
makes sense to me.
Obviously Pittsburgh won the trade though, look how well Jackman is playing... I wish we got more of a return. Berehowsky played like 10 games? and will likely leave as a UFA.

Hey, Nobody knew that Jackman would do so well with the Peguins. Players play well on some Teams than others...

Jackman hasn't really been as good as he was predicted to be drafted fifth overall and hes been on four different teams now.
