Default jackman at the point

i couldnt help but be impressed with jackmans play. he looked like he could use some more experience in his own end, and for this reason im glad carlo isnt up here right now, but his willingness to shoot while playing the point on the pp is a fresh change. ive found myself yelling at my tv these last few seasons hoping the D men would shoot once in awhile on the pp, but my shouts were answered by jackman when he did just that. hopefully he can play better in the leafs end, though he wasnt out of place at all, and maybe get some points on the pp too.

Agreed, the past couple of years I have been doing the same thing, why would we yell at the TV? it's the damn dmen who refuse to shoot unless they have a perfect shot on the net, whihc is a goalies dream to have a perfect sight line to the shooter. I have been saying for over a year now that Jackman is a much better dman then a 3-4 th liner.

What bothered me was seeing Berg out with Klee, I feel that Klee should be on with Kaberle, Berg should be out with maybe Mush. Kondretiev looked good out there stripping Jagr of the puck on at least one occasion, every once in awhile he would try to rush the puck but I think he needs to hang back until his confidence his a wee bit higher.

Ya, I find myself yelling, “shoot it, SHOOT IT for f*ck’s sake”, all the time at the Leafs. But not just at the D. Nope, the whole team.

Anyway, Jackman looked good. While not exactly a youngster anymore (he’s Kaberle’s age) Jackman struck me as promising last year. He never got enough time though (40+ games but little ice time) so it was difficult to say for sure.

He needs the confidence boost a regular spot provides. If you play hockey, or have ever played hockey, you know how important confidence is. Without it, you have no way to show your skill. You don’t want the puck and when you get it, you get rid of it before you really look around. Let’s hope he can build from his play against the Caps.

Rusty, I think Berg needs help. Klee is maybe the best guy to anchor him right now. Marchment is suspect still (but I thought he played well).

Isn’t it weird how we can hate a guy and deride his abilities until we really see what he’s about on the ice? I was surprised. He’s not just a knee capper; he has a good defensive sense.
