Do you guys think the Leafs need a quality backup?

The reason I ask..is because Atlanta is trying to deal a goaltender, but they want some offensive force in return. Toronto is need of a quality backup, and has plenty they could send out.

How would Hurme look in TO?

I figure either Toronto or Colorado will see Hurme soon.

Our problem is not between the pipes, not yet at least. What we need to do is address our d problem, whereas Kondratiev (sp?) looked sorta kinda okay, I still believe one of our biggest weaknesses is our D.

No imho our goalie situation is set for a couple of years.

I'm surprised to hear you say that. Yes Belfour had a great comeback year with the Leafs last season, but he is 38 and has faced alot of rubber of the years. If he dips nad has an average season, do you think the Leafs will re-sign him??? There's no way he'll get 6.5 million again, we all know that. Tellqvist looked good at the Worlds last year and decent in pre-season, but he hasn't proven anything on the NHL level(not really had a chance yet either mind you). I'd say the Leafs goaltending situation could be in turmoil next off-season. Plus, who knows what Ferguson wants to do as well!!!

It might be the blue and white blinders, but I feel that Tellqvist in the next couple of years is going to make the difference, he is starting to get used to the North American ice size, and Eddie is contrary to some peoples opinion a good mentor.

After that we have some fair to middling goalies kicking around in the system, Centomo, Ford and Hodson. The one I look to as a backup in TO some day is going to be Hodson, Centomo is a fair goalie, and Ford needs some time.

But as with the draft goalies can be a crap shoot, only time will tell.

Hurme wouldn't hurt though, right?

He is younger, and can be a starter. Much more proven than anyone the Leafs have, minus the Eagle.

This being Leafland, I find it hard to believe they would go with the guy from the minors after the Eagle has flown the nest
