Default Well it is about to begin

A new season is upon us, and with all new seasons a new hope springs from the Leaf faithful, as with all teams in the League some fans have already planned the parade, while others hang on every game in the season.

Me I like to think that I am about midlle of the pack, although I don't go around planning parade routes, I also don't hang on to my fingertips every shift of every game.

How do you think we will do this year? do you foresee (sp?) a place in the post season? or do you think we will be sitting on the outside watching those play post season games?

Me I feel that we are middle of the pack who will make it into post season play roughly around the number 4-6 seeding in the conference.

Will Fergy make a move for a dman? imho this is what we are lacking, a number 1-2 guy who plays both sides of the rink, but the fact is 95% of the teams out there are also looking for that type of damn, I have heard a few tantilizing scenarios, one of which is attempting to pry Chris Pronger from St Loius, that would be a move that I could see Fergy doing seeing as he has just left there and has a lot more insider trading news from St Loius. Stranger things have happened!!!!

Rusty not to worry the leafs will make the playoffs,If Belfour can play close to or the same as last year with the minor improvements the leafs made on offense and defense i can see them being more of a threat to win their division than some people my self included care to admit. ock: :? Pronger in a leaf uniform? i don't like that senario one bit as that would be to much of an improvement to an average defense for an anti leaf fan like myself to deal with. k:

Your Leafs will for sure make the playoffs. They will play well. notch atleast 90 points.

The Eastern conference again this year looks weak, no offense intended. However, I will say the Leafs finish 6th or 7th.

With the talent on the Leafs, the regular season will be good, but the playoffs..not so sure

The thing about the Leafs is they are so damn iffy right now. Plenty of talent - no question. But their age makes them vulnerable to injuries. Personally, I hope they coast their way through the season and save themselves for the playoffs.

As for the D, well, it’s a problem. Not so much with talent but more with a lack of a system. They tend to run around and don’t communicate properly with the forwards. I see this as a coaching issue. A good system can make average Dmen look better. Hopefully, Quinn will address this problem. In the past he has relied on the defensive expertise of veterans to fill that void but let’s face it, he is wrong about that.

So you're suggesting that the Leaf(v)s have systematic defensive problems?? ... It has not been a problem in the past... they tend to knockoff their first or second round opponent (whoever that might be...) without much problem... :]

I'd be stunned if the Blues let go of Pronger, knowing MacInnis is at his age of what, 40??...and his shoulder still has not properly heald from last years playoffs. I realize the Blues want to trim payroll, but I don't see them letting Pronger go. The Leafs would really have to give up alot to get him(Antropov, Coloaiacovo, etc.) Would it be worth it??? Would Pronger be the missing element??? Who knows!!!

I can basically see the Leafs being beat out in the 2-3 round of the playoffs.. There's no question about the forwards, they have an extreme amount of talent and will have 3 lines that will be able to score on a regular basis - and I hope Stajan sticks with the team, he looked really good in the pre-season. But the defence is the major question. No matter how often "leaf bashers" at first claim the defence will be inexperienced, then bash them for signing vetran players in Marchment and Klee, us Leaf fans know that they were good aquisitions. Like someone else mentioned here, the defence has almost no structure. It seems as though Pat Quinn is putting offence in front of defense - thats no problem as long as he initiates some sort of defensive style. The defense actually doesn't look bad with Kaberle, Marchment, Klee, McCabe, Berg with Kondratiev or Jackman as the sixth man.

As for the goalies... Eddie will get the job done, he still has one good year left in him

well, imo, if you compare that defense to the likes of the sens, devils, flyers it doesnt look so good. but, when compared to the defense of the rest of the eastern conference, its not that bad. not to mention having the eagle between the pipes is a good boost to the D. i think now that quinn has one role with the team he will come up with a better team system to play under. im excited about the coming season like any fan of any team in the league. how this team does remains to be seen like every other team also. i expect a 4th-6th finish in the east for the leafs. playoffs are anybodys game. anything can happen, anyone can win. do i think this team can get to the finals? maybe, maybe not. but i say this because i never would have thought id see the ducks being the sole survivors of the west. if this team can stay healthy, i think anything is possible. i also have confidence that if things, mainly the D playing poorly, will be addressed by jfj. anyways, lets see what happens...and above all:

GO LEAFS GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!
