Default Andre Roy suspended by team

Quote:
Tampa Bay Lightning enforcer Andre Roy has been suspended by the team for at least two games.

According to a report in the Tampa Bay Tribune, the club sent Roy home this morning in reaction to an incident in Thursday's 3-2 loss at Philadelphia.

During the game, Roy had to be restrained by a linesman then physically pulled to the bench by head coach John Tortorella after being enraged by the Flyers in-house staff for replaying Roy's second fight with Riley Cote on the jumbo screen. The Tribune reported that with each replay, the Flyers bench laughed at Cote's quick punch that sent Roy to the ice.

''After last night's game, I felt it would be best for the team and for Andre if he went back to Tampa and we separated him from the team for the next few days,'' general manager Jay Feaster said in a statement. ''I will meet with Andre on Monday and we will determine any subsequent course of action at that time.''

Roy will be out of the lineup tonight against New Jersey and Sunday in Columbus.

I was surprised to see him lose his mind the way he did last night...not that big of deal, you lose some, you win some. Get over it.

I was shocked that Andre went as far as he did. But you are right, it is not that big of a deal. You lose players sometimes, and you deal with it. It is not like he does much for us anyway other than fight.

I meant you lose some fights, you win some fights...put the big boy pants on and deal with it.

Convenient you're wearing an Islanders avatar and the Flyers are playing them tonight after beating the Lighting on Thursday.

The NHL is believed to be looking into the Flyers' handling of replays during Thursday night's win over Tampa Bay. Replays of Riley Cote's one-punch knockout of Tampa's Andre Roy were shown repeatedly during the second half of the game, angering some of the Lightning players.

According to NHL spokesman Frank Brown, "League policy prohibits the use of scoreboards for replays that are provocative or present the opposition in an unfavorable light." Flyers GM Paul Holmgren said he was unaware of his club being subject to a fine.

I've heard that also, it's almost as if they're trying to excuse Roy's actions.
Seriously "please make sure not to offend the opposing team by letting them know how much they suck" is supposedly worst then a death threat.

Seriously, I'm expecting the "conspiracy theorist" accusations but it shows who the league backs and who they resent.

Sure it could be argued that the scoreboard use had bad ethics and\or morals to it but I think it's just the new trend for the Losing team and\or their supporters to bitch with "they had no class" line, it really annoys me. Roy's actions were way worst and again the topic is being redirected to something else and in turn taking the focus away that Roy gestured that he would kill Cote. Other players have done this gestured before and been dealt with harshly, I know consistency is like holy water on the devil's forehead to the NHL but still.

I don't see any reason why you can't use any aspect of the arena to create the home ice advantage.

Hell, in Germany, I was at a game between in Köln against Düsseldorf and over the speaker system they played a song, which the fans sang along with, that translated to "On the ass of the world lies Düsseldorf!"
