SAN JOSE, Calif. (CP) - Jamie McGinn, the leading scorer with the Ottawa 67s, has signed with the NHL's San Jose Sharks, who drafted him 36th overall last year.
McGinn, 18, from Fergus, Ont., is currently playing for the AHL's Worcester Sharks. In Ottawa this season, he amassed 89 points including 46 goals in 68 regular-season games. In the OHL playoffs, he led Ottawa with five goals in five games.
"Jamie has had a dynamic career in Ottawa in which he's displayed a wide array of skills and a relentless attitude," said Sharks GM Doug Wilson. "He performed admirably in the playoffs for Ottawa and will continue to help Worcester in their pursuit of the Calder Cup.
