Sad to see Staal go, but what can you do. Shero made him a 10 year offer, but they did not want to make that kind of commitment. I can't blame Staal on that account, I think his value in a few years will be more than the $6M/year that the Pens were offering.
Would have rather seen them get rid of Martin than Michalek, but I don't think there are many takers for Martin at this point. But then again, with the depth they have and added at defense, we can only hope he can find someone to take him.
The Michalek thing was a pretty obvious salary dump, so hopefully Shero has his eye on something big come July 1st.
