Default Pittsburgh Penguins Stanley Cup Champions

What a wild ride this season has been for Pens fans. Starting well. Then tanking. Coach fired, team not even in playoff picture. What a downer it could have been.

But not now. The Pens go into Detroit, big underdogs, and come out with the Stanley Cup. What a game, the Pens played great early, and the Wings poured it on late. But the Pens held on.

Would loved to have had a mic on Hossa in the handshake line, wonder if any said anything.

Max is going to be one hell of a popular player for quite some time. For a grinder who was playing the fourth line a few weeks ago, he was one hugh playoff performer this year.

Still cannot believe the Penguins won the cup after being down 0-2 and then having to go to the Joe in a game 7. Cant add much more than just saying wow.

If you've been a fan of this team for any amount of time especially the post Mario/Jagr and pre Syd/Malkin time then you know how sweet this is on so many levels. Losing seasons, losing any kind of top notch players for various reasons, lockouts, bankruptcy, Jim Balsillie, etc. We were close to not having a team if the arena didn't get built now we have a Cup chamopion and a hell of a bright future with this core of players!

Just wow!

Im a die hard 49ers fan and none of the Super Bowls the Niners have won can ever compare to winning a Stanley Cup. NONE!

This one especially.. During the back to back cup years, I was living between California and Texas. Unfortunately back in those days finding the playoffs on TV was few and far between. I recall maybe one or two games of the Blackhawks series on National TV, but the rest I had to catch on the highlights on Sportcenter. With Cable TV, stations like NHLN, VS, and my ability to subscribe to FOX Sports PA I have been able to follow the Pens so much closer through the years. Those lean times were harsh I tell ya, which makes this Cup that much more special to me! WOOOO!

I think it partially what the NHL playoffs are all about that make winning the cup so sweet. Winning the cup means playing another two months of hockey. It is the hardest championship to win by far. And the experience of winning those extra 16 games is beyond compare. The physical toll that it takes to win the cup is far beyond any other sport.

For us fans, watching the most exciting sport around, which keeps you on the edge of your seat for each and every game, is mentally taxing. I can't tell you how many times I was up for hours after games.

this season was freaking awesome for me.

twas the first time i had managed to watch every single game in a season

twas the first time i had finally managed to see a NHL game in person

twas the first time in 17 years i got to watch the cup being passed around by the good guys

tis the start of a dynastic club, to rival that of the Oilers in the 80s (*fingers crossed jinx aversion)

WOOO HOOOO PENS!!!
