whether it looks prepubescent or not, that beard is working its magic.

the exact result i would have hoped for. PIT seemed not overly impressive, but cool calm and collected. I wouldn't wish to undermine PHI's effort by saying that PIT were 'playing with them' but PIT never seemed to lose control of the play.

PHI did have a few brief moments of sustained pressure, but really it was never too threatening. and this was despite flower looking a bit ratty around the edges on occasion.

the refs were... interesting. weak as piss calls to start and then ignoring flagrant efforts to injure to end. the defence tho for PIT was solid and they were stuffing up the neutral ice so well, that PHI suffered instant desperation if they got into the PIT end.

#87 is the highest scorer in the playoffs and still seems to love racking up the points in Philly. roll on Thursday!

The Flyers just arent getting production from their top line. Where have you gone Daniel Briere? He seems lost and small out there on the ice. I know he is a smaller player, but the last few games he seems to be dwarfed by everything! Nothing is bouncing the Flyers way. Pucks seem to not want to settle for them. Rolls off their sticks. You can say that the Pens suffocating D is causing this, but I dont know. Yes it plays a part, but I think the Flyers are also playing way too careful. Without their top D men, I think it time for them to say "What the hell" and go full throttle offensive and if they give up goals to get goals so be it. Im expecting the next game to be a high scoring affair. What do they have to lose? Losing 4-2 or 10-5 is still a loss! LOL

Maybe because ive been such a huge fan of Pennywise since i was a youngin, but man Bro Hymn fires me up when I hear it. After RJ's goal I caught myself singning along! lol

did i see / hear correctly that Briere's line was played against Staal's last night?

seeing as Therrien iced Staal's line to neutralise Jagr's when against NYR, i thought this was a strange technique by Stevens?

(but what do i know?)

I think Stevens is just trying anything to find a match-up that works with Briere's line. Matching up against Staal's line would not be something I would do to get that line going but other than playing against the 4th line there is not many good matchups out there(and the 4th line is playing great right now).

Pittsburgh seems destined for the finals. Surprising, I thought Philly would fins ways to score on Fleury, but when you lose a guy like Timmonen, you lose more than just a defenseman.

How do you Pens fans feel about the possibility of playing Detroit (or Dallas, for that matter?) The teams met in meaningless pre-season games if you remember, and half-filled Detroit teams won the Home & Home series 7-3, if I remember correctly.

I think Dallas vs. Pittsburgh would be very entertaining. I have a feeling Detroit vs. Pittsburgh woul be very much like every other Detroit series this playoff run. Can Pittsburgh do what no one else has done this year?

Give alot of credit to the defense AND the forecheck of the Pens. They have not allowed the Flyers much offensive zone time. Heck, they have given them fits just getting into the Pens zone so far.

Problem for Stevens is where to match up Briere's line. You would normally love to match your top line with the other teams third, but Staal's line is playing so well defensively, it is working to our advantage. Did you see the faceoff between Brierre and Staal last night, they were fighting for the puck, and then Staal simply knocked Briere over. Briere was doing his best to hold onto Staal's stick so he didn't get into the play.

And to have his line against any of our top two lines? Briere's biggest contribution has been on the Philly power play, but this series, the way that it has been called, has not given that many. And the Pens are playing an aggressive Penalty Kill that is frustrating the Flyers. They had three PP's last night(really only two due to the overlaps) and had a total of 0(that is a zero) shots on goal.
