Default Coyotes end swing in Tampa

(Sports Network) - The Phoenix Coyotes conclude a four-game road trip this evening, when they travel to Tampa Bay and the St. Pete Times Forum to battle the Lightning.

The Coyotes won the opener of their trek against Columbus, but have since dropped games to Detroit and Florida. On Saturday, Olli Jokinen's goal and assist helped the Panthers defeat the Coyotes, 5-2.

Fredrik Sjostrom and Keith Ballard scored for the Coyotes, who have lost three of four overall. Curtis Joseph took the loss despite making 25 saves and Mikael Tellqvist stopped eight of nine shots in a relief effort.

Center Yanic Perreault did not play against Florida because of a shoulder injury and is probable for tonight's game.

Phoenix is 12-17-1 on the road this year and will return home on Thursday to battle Anaheim.

The club will be without its leading scorer, however, as the Coyotes dealt left wing Ladislav Nagy to the Dallas Stars on Monday for a first-round pick in the 2007 draft and left wing Mathias Tjarnqvist.

Nagy had eight goals and a team-high 33 assists along with 48 penalty minutes in 55 games with the Coyotes this season. His 41 points also led the team. In six seasons with Phoenix, Nagy registered 92 goals and 157 assists in 321 games. He is set to become an unrestricted free agent this offseason.

Tjarnqvist, 27, registered one goal and three assists in 18 games played with Dallas this season. His status for the game is unknown.

The Lightning, meanwhile, will play the first of two straight home games and three of their next four tests will be at St. Pete Times Forum.
