(Sports Network) - The Detroit Red Wings will aim for their fifth straight victory this evening, when they welcome the Phoenix Coyotes to Joe Louis Arena.
The Red Wings were last in action on Monday night at New York's Madison Square Garden, when they mounted a furious comeback in the third period to earn a 4-3 win over the Rangers. Robert Lang and Henrik Zetterberg scored less than two minutes apart in the final frame to help Detroit erase a two-goal deficit.
Veteran netminder Dominik Hasek also recovered from a shaky start, surrendering three first-period goals on just seven shots, to finish with 17 saves.
It was the first trip to the Garden for the Red Wings since October 25, 2003.
Jiri Hudler and Pavel Datsyuk also scored for Detroit, which has won nine of its last 12 games. Yet, the Red Wings, winners of the last four Central Division crowns, are still trailing Nashville by three points for the division lead.
The Red Wings haven't played consecutive games at home or on the road in nearly two weeks and will travel again for Thursday's test in St. Louis. Detroit is an impressive 19-3-3 in the Motor City this year.
