Obviously Marleau has resigned and it now looks like the Flyers have the rights to sign Nabokov...

1. Sign Nabby
2. Sign a #5 d-man for #5 money
3. Re-sign Coburn, Carcillo and Powe
Things will be good.

I don't know how reliable this site is, not to mention I don't even know what it says, but apparently it says Gagne has been traded.
http://legrandclub.rds.ca/profils/43250/posts/81202
And this is apparently a poor translation of what it says..
"Bonjours in all this is not a rumour it is confirmed,
yesterday it was the tournament of Golf Simon Gagné to the advantage of Leucan. In order to ammasser most possible benefit for the children the sick, mister Simon Gagné has give a scoop to all the world in exchange for donation for its foundation. In effect, it one sold the last waistcoat carried by Simon Gagné in a match, $20 000. Further to this sale it has comfirmé that he was exchanged while saying that he could not give his destination, because the is gone shopping at the market in 99 %. Therefore, on Monday we are going to know that it city will have honour to have a player of first plan of the beating of Simon Gagné. Esce that ca will be an exchange with Montreal, Toronto or Los angeles. On Monday we shall have answer and it is allowed to us to dream".
Guess we won't have to wait long to find out if it was true or not...

So far only part of #3 has been done...but somehow they're still in good shape.
Although in my opinion it would make more sense to trade Carter. You'll get more in return for him, drop 5 million, and keep a player who has one year left on his contract and isn't likely to fetch much on the open market. Then, next season see if he'll agree to sign for cheaper...trading Gagne for nothing or dropping him to the waivers is rough treatment for one of the longest tenured athlete in Philly - a nice way of saying, thanks for gutting out that injury, being a stud in the playoffs, and carrying our team past the Bruins. Now get out there and be somebody!

I completely agree. Problem is, what does Carter bring being on the last year of his contract as well? I think the organization views Carter as a player who will continue to get better, Carter wants to play center, but they Flyers need more goal scoring from the wings. Yes, they signed Zherdev, but if Gagne is moved, then they're losing his goals.
Powe should be resigned and I'm expected the Flyers will exercise their walk away option if Carcillo gets close to or over $1 mil in arbitration. I really can't stand the Shelley or Boogaard signings because of the price increase it's going to cause for guys like Carcillo and Asham.

I still haven't gotten over this signing, it was really really really unnecessary and stupid.

I agree, and the price just set a bad tone for issues with better players who are currently making less.

Zherdev ready to begin anew
Quote:
Nikolai Zherdev never really wanted to go back to Russia for a year, after playing five seasons in the National Hockey League. There was one specific positive development from the situation, however.
“I found my wife. So, I missed a season in the NHL, but I’m happy right now,” he said, after recently returning from his honeymoon.
Zherdev, 25, was drafted fourth overall in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft by the Columbus Blue Jackets – the same draft that produced Flyers Jeff Carter, Mike Richards and Braydon Coburn, and is regarded as one of the strongest classes in recent NHL history. With 239 points in 365 career NHL games, Zherdev clearly has the tools to produce offensively. His best season came with the Blue Jackets in 2007-08, when he had 26 goals and 35 assists for 61 points while appearing in all 82 games.

He admitted he only went to Russia after the lack of offers from NHL clubs when the Rangers walked away from a salary arbitration ruling last summer. (“I [didn’t] have any benefits to return for one year in Russia. It was just to play hockey,” he said.)

Here is the rest of the article http://flyers.nhl.com/club/news.htm?id=534374
Also heard that Gagne's agent has been given permission by the Flyers to directly talk with teams.

2010-11 season can't come soon enough. I hate the summertime.
