Default Goalies?

According to Holmgren the Flyers can't afford both Biron and Niittymaki (or their performances is cause for parting ways). Khabibulin and Conklin will become free agents soon. (If Flyers can't afford Biron they certainly won't be able to afford Khabibulin.) I think it would be a mistake picking up either Khabibulin or Conklin. Both of them have been passed around the League like mad, Khabibulin's career is going to end sooner than Biron's and Conklin has not fully proved himself as a lead goalie. It's ashame that the Flyers haven't prepared a young goalie. (I think they have drafted a very young goalie somewhere but he's not ready to enter the NHL.) Anyway, I think Biron would make a better backup goalie than Niittymaki if they pick up a better goalie somewhere.

Agreed this team is built to win now accept for in net.
Biron has been given every oppertunity to take the starting job and prove he is capeable.

He has been unable to prove that thou so it's time for an up grade.

With Niitty you know he is ok being a backup. I'm not sure if Biron would be ok with not being the starting goalie going into next year.

I like Antero. He is a very focused guy. More so than Biron, I think. He's had some incredible moments this year and a few bad moments (ie. Calgary - 3 goals in first period). I think Biron's a little more consistent. Biron played well against Pittsburgh. I think several teams will make offers on Niitty and he'll oblige.

Biron will always be Biron. The reason that the Sabres got rid of him was that they didn't see him leading them to the next level. He seem to fail in the big games. Not sure why, he seems like such a great goalie, then will just go in the tank. I don't think he would accept a backup role at all, too many teams in need of a #1 goalie that he could fit into.
Conklin is a great backup, but I don't think that he could be a #1 for a cup contender.
And I don't think that a team like the Flyers, who are built around contending for the coming years would take a chance on Khabibulin, who will be 37 next year.
If they have money to spend, Kari Lehtenon is a RFA. Save% almost the same, but Kari didn't have much of a defense(or offense) to help him in Atlanta.

Lehtenon would be a good add to the Flyers. If I were Antero I wouldn't accept backup anymore and move on to a team where I could play full time even if that meant going to Europe. I think Antero's just a little short of being able to handle the lead position, either. I think Biron's style is more effective in this League but he's not as fast as a Fleury, Ryan Miller or even Brodeur at times. Fleury blew me away during the Playoffs. He won it for the Pens.

Ryan miller thank's for the complement for miller, but Miller gave up some crapy goals he should of have. i think he's not that fast. [sometimes] when he gives up crapy goals! that he should of had. Miller is still a good goal tender though made a big turn around this year like in 2006 -2007. last year 2007-2008 he sucked the bone
