I want some of that stuff Muckler was smoking before he went to the draft. Jeesh. Compare what Kings got for Bonk to what the sens got for Bonk. And Lalime! That is just plain funny!

But the Blues need a #1 goalie. They just drafted Schwarz to adress that need in the future, but as of NOW they got some problems. We should be able to take advantage of that. Either give us a roster player aswell or make that pick a 2nd rounder! We got played twice in two days. Luckily for us, they were heading out of town anyway.
True, but didn't the second round already finish? :? Maybe It was probably too late... then again, a prospect from St. Louis would have done fine.

Oh well, at least your team is actually taking out the garbage instead of embracing it. :x
I would've been fine with a prospect from the Blues, but we didn't get one. True the second round was over, but we got a 4th round pick in the 2005 Entry Draft. Thus I think we got the short end of the stick. You're right though, it's nice to see Muckler isn't going to sit around and watch while dead weight drags the team down (I dunno if that's fair to Lalime, but it certainly applies to Radek Bonk). Bonk was heading out of town as an FA anyway, at least we got something in a 3rd roudner. But Lalime could've went to a few teams, Muckler should of made a few demands (realistic ones of course). I think Mucks is a fine GM, but his trades at the Draft left a bit to be desired IMO.
Yeah you should've tried for Shawn Belle before he was shipped off to the Dallas for a goalie prospect.

Dumping salary is never a bad thing guys. We are about to sign Hasek, everyone knows that, what kind of leverage do you think Mucks had with that out there?

Sure we could have gotten more, but I'm happy that we've freed up the salary for UFA's. Draft picks are never bad to have, just ask JFJ.

As I said in the other thread..Muckler has again made a bad trade.

He owed it to Lalime, to make a better deal for him. Lalime now goes to St.Louis..a team which is a mess of goalies, and of a team. He deserved better.

Sure, he was dumping salary..but come on..he could have got more than he did.

Looks like age is creeping up on old Muckler k:

Muckler looks to be sending a message that the Country Club and under-acheiving days are over.....Good.

How does he "owe" it to Lalime??? I find it funny reading this thread and reading a couple of you here complaining how we shold have gotten rid of Lalime and when we do, bitch about what we get in return. Did you guys really expect a 2nd rounder or a good prospect, considering we were dealing from a position of weakness with the impending signing of Dominak Hasek???
I'd like to have seen Lalime comeback and get another chance. Glad to see Bonk go though!!!

Were we in a position of weakness, Craven? Not IMO. Look at the goalies St. Louis has in their organization, they're horrible. We were on equal footing if not superior. If we traded with say Vancouver, who have Cloutier as their #1, then a 4th rounder would be alright seeing as Lalime isn't a huge upgrade. Roman Cechmanek (sp?) got Philly a 2nd rounder in this years draft when he was traded to LA, they were in a situation similar to that of the Blues (prior to this trade). Based on Lalime's past playoff numbers (plus he's just plain better than Cechmanek) I feel a 2nd rounder (or perhaps even a 1st) is more of a fair trade. We didn't get it, let's move on. Hasek at only 2 million dollars (with bonuses) seems like a smart move to me. Let's hope he stays healthy.

Your argument does not put us in a position of strength either. Since Hasek is virtually assured to be a Senator come July 1st, its obvious we are desperate to deal Lalime. You don't keep Lalime here as a back-up. He won't take a pay-cut and you don't need to pay someone 3 million to sit on the bench. Hasek was just involved in a situation like that. We don't need that here.
Since we are trying to deal him, teams are going to try and low-ball Ottawa. Its either take what you can get, or let him walk, as there is no need to qualify him. Cechmanek was already under contract when he was dealt last year, different circumstances, which brings me to this..... that this is not a sellers market either. Teams are not going to overpay for someone.

Lalime was a quality guy, and up until the series against Toronto..was a pretty solid goalie for the sens.

Thats why I think he owed Lalime something more..because for the last few years or so..Lalime had been pretty solid for the sens.
