Jason Spezza get's snubbed to play in the Young Guns All-Star game. I know the reason he isn't there is because they wanted to get some players there whose team didn't have someone play in the real All-Star game, but leaving out Spezza??? I mean, Derek Roy from Buffalo, 17 games played??? Spezza is a real marketable player, and brings a instant presence to the game. Good response by Spezza though, "I guess I'll have to make the real All-Star team next year" (paraphrase).
Spezza deserves to be there, no doubt about that. The NHL needs to open it's eyes. Spezza has the potential to be a superstar in this league and this would have been a great show case for him. Spezza, Nash, Heatley, Bowmeester (spelling?). The NHL needs to start marketing around these young guns. They're the future of the league. Look at what the NBA is doing with Lebron James and Carmello Anthony. The NHL should learn to take a similar approach in my opinion. Build around youth, not the aging stars that we grew up with. Young people today aren't going to identify with Mario Lemieux, Steve Yzerman and Joe Sakic (although they're great players).

Want to see some funny NHL marketing, go to nhl.com and read the " Jagr was born to score " article they posted up after he was traded to the Rangers. That and the Mario bobble heads they try to sell.....
