Default Lalime in the Playoffs

Well Lalime almsot managed to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory last night against the Pens.
Thankfully, we got the 2, despite an ugly, ugly game.
Props to havlat, hossa, schaefer.

Now here is the controversy.
Is Lalime our man in the playoffs ?
He has looked rather ordinary at times this year.
Maybe the new baby, and lack of sleep is taking its toll.

As witnessed in last years playoffs, goaltending is essential to a cup victory.
Do you think Lalime can bring home the grail ?
Do we go with Prusek ?
Do we shop around for a rent-a-goalie at trade time ?

Well, I would say that if the Sens do go with Lalime in the Playoffs and he fails, he wont be here next year. It is widely touted that Prusek will be gone at the deadline and Emery will be brought up to fill that gap. Now with that in mind, who is to say that they wont leave Emery down and find a rental for the playoffs. When push comes to shove, the pickings are slim.

As far as the original question on whether Lalime can do the job, not in his current state. More than 1 of the goals in last nights game was a little weak and we have all seen him play a much better game. I would wait and see how well he does in this next stretch up to the All Star break to consider any moves at this position.

You should have added a "Wait and see" to the poll.

Sens would be crazy not to stick with Lalime, hopefully the rest he's getting in the regular season will make him even better in the playoffs.

And what do you mean goaltending is essential?

Boob Clarke doesn't think so, and he's the greatest mind in hockey.

Just can't let go of the Clarke thing eh yoata even though your wrong about what he said.Nice to see i'm not alone though on Clarke being a great hockey mind you think he has the greatest mind in hockey and i think he's the smartest man in hockey so i guess theres hope for you after all yoata. ock: :? :P As for the original question of this post i'm still not convinced Lalime is capeable of taking any team to a cup victory he's inconsistent as hell.

Bondra will be our goalie........hehe j/k. I like Patty in the playoffs, we've tried the rent-a-goalie before and it didnt get us out of the first round, so I'm backing up Patty.

As I've argued with FF2 many a time, we aren't going to get someone better. We are one of the best defensive aware teams, yet have a potent offence that may be the best in the NHL. Yes, last night's game was a poor performance by Lalime, nobody can deny that, but it was one game, and every goalie has a pitiful outing every now and then, even Brodeur is not immune to them (granted they are few and far in between). Honestly, I had alot of fun watching the game, 6-5, and Ottawa won, which was the bottom line. Yeah, yeah, it was the Penguins, but I want more scoring every now and then. Lalime will be fine. He is the starter.

Definitely better than the Flyer's goaltending.
