Default Sens about to land Bondra??

I have read several reports that say the Ottawa Senators are close to landing Caps sniper Petr Bondra for Vermette and Pothier. I would rather part with Pothier and Schastlivy, Vermette's a little much. Any one else hear this or can confirm this?

I'd love to get Bondra, anybody who says they wouldn't want him on their team is liar. But I'd hate to give up Vermette to get him. The Caps have said they are desperate to sell, which puts Ottawa in the position of strength to make a trade. The Schastlivy and Pothier deal I would make in a heartbeat. Sure, this doesn't address our "weak" spot for a tough rugged winger on the left side, but we still have about 7 weeks to make another deal if Ottawa feels its necessary.

If the sens did get Bondra then just imagine what the power play could do. Best power play would be even better. I agree that giving up Vermette would be too much. I'd trade Langfeld if the caps wouldn't take schastlivy.

I'm really interested to see what type of moves Muckler does this year. Hopefully this potential Bondra trade is the start of something special.

He has had nagging groin injuries, and he's what, 36, and a 1 or more year NHL shutdown is imminent ? Bondra's had a great career and it may continue for a couple more years. But I wouldn't give up much for him right now. :]

Also this story is not on the wires. Care to provide a link?

I agree with Grim there, I wouldnt want to give too much up for him. I also dont want to see Mucks trade Langfield, I like what he brings to the table. Pothier yes, Schastlivy hell yes.....

It was on Mojo radio all day Grim, but that station is one of the worst for trades. I remember when they announced the Lindros trade to the Leafs a couple years ago, and that had the audacity on air to say Leaf sources telling them that the trade never happened were wrong.

Wow, pretty strong statement regarding other peoples' opinions. Just how can an opinion be a lie anyway? :::

This would be good for Ottawa..but do they need the offense?

I think they have plenty of guys who can put the puck in the net.

What they need, IMO, is a gritty player who can

-score
-provide leadership
-playoff experience
-play with an edge

But like I said, it still would be good for Ottawa. Extra firepower never hurt.

Heres a link from the Sun, although it is Garrioch. http://www.canoe.ca/NewsStand/Ottawa...23/321499.html

Talks about the trade with a first or second round pick and a prospect. That is a little more pallatable.
