Default Should we pursue Ricci??

Ricci struggles could force trade
TheFourthPeriod.com

While Mike Ricci continues his demoted duties on the fourth line in San Jose, trade speculation involving the 32-year-old has begun to rise.

Ricci, however, says his focus is on working his way back up the depth chart.

“That’s all I can do,” he told the Mercury News. “We’ll see what happens. You’re never happy with it. But what can you do?”

Ricci, who becomes an unrestricted free agent after this season, knows that few teams have the luxury of a $3 million fourth-liner. The center isn’t talking trade, but he understands if others are.

“That’s logical,” Ricci said. “Everyone would think that. I’m sure it’s crossed everybody’s mind.

“Obviously they’re not going to want me around playing on the fourth line, so you just have to wait and see what happens.”

What do you think Sens guys n gals? He's been to and won the Cup, has the heart to do what it takes, bring more physical / gritty / pesky element to the team, the only concern aside from his price tag is he'd be yet another center-men. I'd like to see him in a Sens jersey for the playoffs even if it is just for the playoffs, anyone else?

He makes a bit too much..never thought he made 3 mill a year.

He would be a good player for the Sens, but probably wouldn't bring as many points as a player like Walker.

Other teams that could use Ricci could be Vancouver, or Montreal. But again, his price tag makes this impossible.

This rumour came up last year as well. Once Ottawa is completely healthy, they will have some people that are sitting. Ricci would take a draft pick IMO to acquire. Yes, he is a centremen, but he could also be used on the left-wing, and would be welcomed for defensive face-offs late in a game. If he is acquired, I think that would mean the end to Vermette playing in the playoffs, which would be a shame, because his desire on the ice is there every shift.

Walker would bring more points but do we really need more scoring brought in....um no. Plus, apparently the only thing that would bring Walker to Ottawa is A-Train, and there is no way in hell I want to give Anton up, hurt or not. I might be getting ahead of myself here, but the thought of a grind line consisting of Varada / Ricci / Neil makes me foam at the mouth.

I think he should be brought in. I think his hair is even worse than Alfies ock:

Seriously the guy is a warrior. He would help any team immediately. Ottawa would be a good fit IMO. So would the Canucks.

I heard him and Sopel are having a hair growing contest, Ricci wins ugliest man award hands down......hey, if he does somehow come to Ottawa maybe the Leaf fans will start calling us the Sena-hairs as opposed to the Euro-Sens.....I'll be here all week....

About Walker..more points never hurt to aquire. Plus he plays a Mike Peca style of two way game. He is gritty. But yeah, would take something to acquire..

I think Ricci makes too much to be played on a grinding line. His coin would make him not wanted as much, as say if he made 2 million or under.

This season at the trade deadline much will happen. Because of the lockout worries teams will be letting go of players for cheaper than ever before.

i see no reason the sens should go after anyone. if alfredsson guarntees the cup already, and hes the captain, then the team should save their money and just play until the cup is won. the fans will be happy enough with the sens as the 03/04 cup winners and wont care much who is and isnt on the team. if alfredsson says it, its true. the best player ever to come from sweden.

You Sens fans are all alike. At best Alfie is perhaps fifth-best ever from Sweden. But he has a lot of years to go. Let's just wait and see.

Cup guarantee huh?

And only the San Jose Mercury News is speculating about Ricci. So local chatter only.

Where's your source on all these credible comments??? Alfredsson has never guarenteed a Cup ever, so quit wasting your time with an immature response like that.
