Expectations are pretty high in Ottawa right now, by everyone, especially from me. If the Sens were to get off to a horrid start, would the Sens be smart to fire Jacques Martin before the season got to far out of hand??? I'm not panicking at all, its 3 games and we should have won against Detroit(LA kicked our ass bad, can't deny that). This is a make or break season for the Martin and if they don't get to the Finals, I think Muckler would fire him or just not renew his contract, which he is in the final year of.
If they were to fire him, should they go for a more offensive coach or bring in someone who has a Cup ring....like a Larry Robinson(although he is defensive minded) or even Muckler himself take over, mind you, he has been out of coaching for a while. Jon Paddock in Bingo is another possibility!!!

Huh... three games and off the wagon already... tssk
Craven, for someone who is such an ardent supporter of the Senators, this thread seems to run opposite to all of your previous statements.
As for firing Martin. October is a little early to panic. The Sens keep improving under Martin, why would anyone want to fire him? If the Sens are challenging the Rangers for the basement at Christmas time, fire Martin and hire Larry Robinson, who seems good at turning teams around.
Along with firing Martin, trade some of the top Sens players for overpaid veterans. Lindros would like Ottawa.

Under construction, come back later.
Well, Iced Tea, nobody said anything about panicking. In fact, I said that I wasn't. I was just curious if they got off to a bad start, should they fire him. I never said they should fire him as well. If they do have a bad start, I'm not going to waver that I think they can win the Cup. Like I have said many times, I'm not guarenteeing anything. If I had come out and said Ottawa sucks and they should fire Martin, no questions asked, fine, I would agree that my comments were 'opposite' of what I have been saying about Ottawa.
Are you sure your as much a die hard Sens fan as we think you are, Craven?
It sounds like you are not very confident in the Sens. Martin will stay, and they will get out of the slump. Why fire martin anyway? Its his style of play that will get them to the stanley cup. Without him, its anyones game

Have faith in Martin
I have faith in Martin. If I didn't, the post would have read..."Fire Jacques Martin"...if you had read my suggestion properly, it was a theoretical situation. I could have used any other team as an example, but since expectations are high here, I thought using Ottawa would be a good example. Its to bad people aren't separating my views of Ottawa with the topic I suggested, but I guess, they might be one and the same!!!
Fire Jacques Martin?... why be the fan of only one team when they might suck two or three games down the road?... so "bandwagonning" is becoming the way to go now... and people read one thing and think they read another thing... maybe Paul Martin could be the Senators coach and Jacques Martin can be the more youthful Canadian Prime Minister that Paul is not... just because I said that does it mean I am off the wagon?

With you, I don't really know, or care for that matter. If you don't want to discuss the original topic at all and only concern yourself with bandwagoning, take it to the trash talk lounge!!
