I don't know if I'm breaking any board rules, but here goes:
Now, I don't watch alot of football, and what I do watch is the CFL. However, there is a story that can't be ignored. It's everywhere. I'm referring to the Brett Favre retirment. When he was going to retire, he asked to be released by the Packers, and they decided not to. That's understandable. Favre has talked about retiring before and come back. Green Bay doesn't want to lose a player of his caliber. However, when he did decide that he wanted to come back, they made it clear that Aaron Rodgers was going to be the starting quarterback, and also made it clear that they didn't want Favre. They even offered him $25 million to stay retired. So on Monday it was announced that Brett Favre will be reinstated. I thought that everything would be back to normal. I was wrong. Now, it turns out that Rodgers will still be the starting quarterback. Now, I can see Favre being pretty ticked off about this. He is a far superior player to Rodgers. So there's a good chance that he'll jump ship. But remember, Green Bay decided not to release him. So they can basically control where he plays. He wants to go to Minnesota, too bad. They don't want to see a divisional rival with Brett Favre. Which is a little funny when you think about it. He's so good that they want to have to play against him as little as possible, but he's not good enough to take the starting job from Aaron Rodgers? Something stinks in Green Bay, and it's not that Wisconsin cheese

Tonight, tonight
As of Monday, I heard there was going to be an open competition for the starting job between all quarterback potentials...has that changed?
Yes, that was what was said on Monday. However, I heard that Rodgers was favoured. And I don't mean to sound stubborn, but even if there is an open competition, the only reason Favre is in camp is because of Goodell interfering.

I'm not sure I agree with your sentiments, despite thinking that the Packers are making a mistake. They made a commitment within the organization to move on without Favre when he retired. If they want to stick with that commitment, I can't say I blame them, even though I think its pretty stupid and muleheaded thing to do.
Hopefully something is worked out, and hopefully Favre doesn't regret coming out of retirement.

If they don't want Farve around, they need to release him.

Which I'm sure they will, if it really comes to that. I just hope that both sides can agree that that is the best thing to do. I don't think anyone wants to see Favre play somewhere else, considering what he has meant to the franchise. To me, it'd be like seeing Yzerman coming out of retirement and playing for someone else (outside of the fact that Favre still is in good shape to make an impact).
Is a trade not possible? I'm not really well acquainted with whats going on, I just know fringe details.

A trade is possible, but only the New York Jets and some other team. (Carolina?) And I actually would like to see Favre play somewhere else, just to stick it to the management. (You may have noticed, I'm not a good person)

First thing I checked was the sched, they don't face each other this year.
Enjoy the Favreless packers Vikings
It'll actually be strange watching the Vikings/Packers games this year without somebody wearing #4 for Green Bay. Not that I'm going to miss it that much.
