When the Olympics start, this is where you can find out where canada measures up against the rest of the world - will be (hopefully) updated daily. Comments about Medals (and Medal winners) in here. I will have to admit, actually SEEING one of those, they do look really weird. Like large (very large) CD Discs lol).
lol...common typing errors :P I find i miss spell some words when I'm typing because i don't look and I'm fairly fast. i do have this Google ABC spell check toolbar though now so i can check my spell before i submit a post :P
Canada won 17 medals in the Salt Lake City games in 2002 (7 gold-3 silver-7 bronze). I would like us to increase the medal count in progression to being one of the top countries in 2010 in Vancouver.
These are the following sports I look for us to win medals:
Mens and Womens Hockey (Gold and Gold)
Freestyle Skiing (we have some talented people here, they might not necessarily win gold, but medals aren't out of the picture)
Speed Skating (even though Doan is gone we still have some talent here)
Luge & Skeleton
Bobsled
Alpine skiing I think is still an Olympic away in terms of medals and figure skating doesn't look too good at this juncture although I guess we might factor for a medal there.
Actually Jeff Buttle is looking good enough to medal (not gold, but a medal), I agree with the Olympics away from Downhill skiing. We're def. getting better.
If the Lugers and Skeletons people don't choak like Salt Lake we should blow away the Medal field. In a previous thread, Canada is wanting to break the 20 goal barrier

As of right now: Germany has won 2 gold, United States one gold with the win in men's 5000 speed skating (which set a new world record), Norway one silver, two bronze, Austria one silver, The Netherlands one silver and Italy one bronze.
Congratulations to Jennifer Heil on winning Canada's first medal of the 2006 Winter Olympics. Hopefully we'll see some of our athletes on the podium tommorrow.
