Default Nice Info

Wow nice info there Pens. I would never haved guessed that the wings payroll would have been so far down the list. You have to credit thier scouts and GM Ken Holland they do such a great job. Zetterberg and Datsuyk were drafted 7th round 210 (hank) and 6th 171 (dats). That is some awesome scouting. Then we traded for Clearly and Stuart who were both 1st rounders and the only 1st rounders on the team. It's funny to see Calgary so high on the list after when they played Detroit in the playoffs the coach kept whining about how it was poor little old Calgary against the large rich big market Detroit and it worked. I hate that about Hockey, how easy the refs can be manipulated. I also hate canadiens who are so biased. We all know it's your national pastime, no one argues that. But if it wasn't for the US the NHL would be alot smaller and wouldn't attract players from all over the world nor be considered the premier leauge in the world. Your welcome.

guess your not too old! are you joking?????????????most USA arenas are half full, maybe you should come over to Canada and try and buy a ticket buddy, this is the hockey belt of the world, I live in toronto, yes I know Toronto is run by a bunch of RETARDS but only for Canada you all over there wouldn,t be watching hockey because its a canadian game and most players on american teams are either european or canadian baseball basketball and football as americans call it in the NFL are american sports

Default You must be kiddign me

Your not telling me anything I don't already know. I concede that Hockey is no doubt Canada's thing. It's like a religon over there. The thing is, it's a religon in some parts of the US too. Take Detroit for example. I have to thank Gordie Howe for making it so popular. It's funny how one player can make a sport in a city so popular that it lasts for years and years. It's hard to get tickets here as well. Think also the Rangers, Pittsburg, Philly, Buffalo, Wahington it goes on and on. To give you an idea of what I'm talking about and I am by no means trying to compare it to Canada but just from the Detroit metro area we have produced some very good US players. Doug Wieght (Warren,MI) Al Iafarte (Livona,MI) Pat Lafontaine (Waterford, MI) Jimmy Carson (Detroit,MI) the Hatcher brothers (Sterling Hieghts,MI) Mike Modano (Westland,MI) these are just some of the better players I can think off of the top of my head and these are all born and raised in the suburbs of Detroit. We also had some good players play juniors or college here as well. Eric Lindros (Farmington Hills,MI) Dallas Drake (Northen MI) Marty Turco (Michigan) John Madden (Michigan) I could go on and on. Again this is no Canada but to get to Canada from Detroit you have to go SOUTH. We are pretty found of our religon here as well.

And once again the arrogant US attitude that makes it the most hated country in the world rears it's ugly head.!!!

You could respond with an actual rebuttal, and perhaps prove him wrong.

your right, in some parts of the USA is like a relgion for hockey and almost impossible to buy tickets and yes same as Detroit but I heard this year till playoffs they slowed down in ticket sales but none of these areas can compete with especially Toronto, in toronto Hockey is a religion and all of Canada! USA have got some great players that were born there but on a scale once again they can,t compete with Canada or European players!!!!!!!!

I'm a junior hockey fan of the OHL and have had season tickets for the Oshawa Generals for years and Eric Lindros played for the Oshawa Generals from 1989-1990 to 1991-1992, the last time Oshawa Generals won the Memorial Cup was when Eric played in Oshawa, best junior player ever next to Bobby Orr! and Hatcher brothers played in the OHL also for North Bay so your facts are a little off

How did a thread about the Wings parade degenerate into a silly argument pitting the Americans against the world? Lets get back on topic guys.

Default back to topic

I will get back on topic but first I must address a few things. FIrst of all Eric Lindros did play here he played for Compuware of Farmington Hills MI. Lived here with his "foster parents". Check your facts. Second I never said that the Hatchers played juniors here I said they were born and rasied here. The fact they can go to Canada play juniors in Canada and still make the NHL and be impact players says alot. Again I'll point out that there was no way I was trying to say "we make more hockey players then Canada" which is what your trying to make it seem. All I was saying was that Hockey is big here too and mentioned a few of the players that learned thier trade HERE. Second if you think for one second that having the NHL in the US didn't help promote the sport on a global scale you are delisional. How many Canadiens are there? 27 Million? We've got more then that in LA and New York alone. If anyone is being arrogant it's you. Lots of revenue come from the US. That's what draws the best in the world big BUCK$. Besides why are we arguing that? I think it's awesome that you can have two countries that have the worlds only free border and house the best hockey in the world! I personally could care less where they come from (sounds wierd eh? Who would have thought that after the heroics of us vs them at lake placid?). I know how loved hockey is there and I can imagine how crazy hocley is there actually I know it I've been to Canada a bizillion times and alot of the population here is from Canada, or there parents or grandparents. (My grandma was from Sasquatchwaun) Anyway to be back on topic just for the wings parade there was over a million people downtown. A million hockey crazed religous freaks from Canada and the US. Yes there are lots of Canadiens who root for the wings. Also we have the Windsor spitfires across the river and our own Plymouth Whalers both from the OHL! They don't call it Hockeytown for no reason
