Obviously we all know the Dutch have bad taste if they choose to support guys such as Tomas Holmstrom when true talent lies in Ryan Smyth.

Anyways, congratz again to the Wings, what a fantastic team!

I can't for the life of me figure this kind of stuff out.

well i have to be honest with you, since I didnt post yesterday after i read what swflyer - something or other wrote because i was upset but i have been here less than a month, in fact i joined on May 13 if i remember my own profile correctly, and I must say that there have been no less than 5 times when i have felt like giving it to somebody here because i felt they were being disrespectful and judgemental. Yesterday being such a time.

However, none of you realized it because i hid it, the reason being that I am a leader as well, I have held mod jobs on two different forums and in fact am still a mod at one of the forums. I must set an example as well.

Yup, because a bandwagoner spends 14 years being a habs fan even when they havent won since 1993 and i remained a habs fan.

I must say, that you guys are being extrememly judgemental. Flyerfan2, we have had our fun, when the habs lost you joked with me about my favorite goalie (and still is I have never been a ozzie fan tbh although hes good) being an "overrated sieve who folds like suitcase under pressure" LOL i'll never forget that one - and I joked with you about the Flyers even though I dont like them i have been respectful of you and your team.

but calling someone a bandwagoner - its not hockey ribbing anymore its personal. That is like akin to an attack on somebody's character, what they are like as a person, that they flip flop from one team to another. And you dont even know me, we have not really spoken, in fact you and your friend swflyer - something haven't been all that nice since i first joined. Yet you feel that you can pass judgement on me without even knowing me? Thats very nice of you to assume that about me, especially since I first became a fan of the wings in 1995 (when they was LOSING to BRODEUR - bandwagonism, eh?) and then call me one because it took this stanley cup win to make me cross that line and you assume that about me because I chose to write here the day after they won the cup?

1. I'm new here.

2. You flyers fans are the ones who have actually been the nicest to me the least since Ive been here. The nicest here have been wing fans, Paolo, and Rusty, and sometimes NOss but even he is being judgemental now.

3. a bandwagoner supports teams who are winning, I became a habs fan in 1992 before they won the cup.

4. You have no reason to assume im a bandwagoner.

5. If you knew me you would know I have no rep anywhere for bandwagoning.

6. It took me 13 years from 1995 to 2008, to finally cross the line to say i like the wings. They won in 1997, 1998, and 2002 and i never crossed that line then i remained a habs fan.

7. It is extremely nice of the three of you i must say to attack me, a basically a new member of the forum who you dont really know yet. One fellow did that some weeks ago, he compared me to a certain habs fan who had developed a bad rep around here, I said something about it, and he has never said anything of the kind since. You would like new members, yet you attack me. I have some friends here, the wings fans and Paolo i consider my friends; ironically, the habs fans are the people who have been nice to me the least. Also you two flyer fans and your other friend JT.

7. Which brings me to my next reason i decided to make the jump. I'm a Newfoundlander. I appreciate what the wings have done for us, helping us make the history books, as our Newfoundlander became the first ever to win the stanley cup. Do you realize that our other two Newfoundlanders, Terry Ryan and Michael Ryder, were treated like crap in Montreal? actually, when you think about it, all of our Newfoundlanders and part Newfoundlanders, Ryan Clowe, Danny Cleary, Gary Roberts (and here's where I give credit to the Flyers) Scotty Upshall, have all done very well with their respectful American teams, whereas when they were with Canadian teams they were basically treated like crap.

My parents always insisted that Newfoundlanders have never gotten a fair time from Ottawa and the rest of Canada. I always opposed that thinking and say Hold on, there is a chance we can be treated fairly with the right kind of government in Ottawa. But now, when i realize the history of how Newfoundladers have been treated even in NHL hockey, I am thinking I think my parents, who have been involved in politics for years, and my dad being a hockey fan for more than 54 years, has a point.

and I feel the Habs have been no exception, our people have never been treated well with Montreal, and its not very nice being a fan of team who feels, like many people do on the mainland, that this country ends in Halifax.

So thats another reason I decided to join the wings organization. Only it took this years champiopnship to make me realize it, and im called a bandwagoner.

Sorry again no disrestect but to bring politics into this is a stretch at best and you wont get any sympathy from a westerner {B.C} that as a province has been shuned by eastern Canada for far to long.

Besides it's imho it's all smoke and mirrors to justifie something most and i mean most sports fans hate and thats jumping ship to join a winner , especially after coming on so strong about a a team you previously supported.

IMHO and again this is just "MY OPINION" it's a classic case of bandwaggoning " as obvious by the timing of your switch.

so just because i said this the day after they won the cup you think you can judge me. You dont know me. So I should have waited to say this ? I nevr expected to even be called this. I never even knew what a bandwagoner was until you said it and i had to go look it up.

I have never in my life been a fairweather anything, in fact i hate ppl like that.

I did not come to this decision overnight.

By the wiki definition a bandwagoner is a fairweather person who goes for winners and twists their allegiance off and on like a water faucet. They are insincere, flattering from the teeth out and not going with their heart. I dont think im blowing anytnhing out of proportion, you basically called me a bad person and viciously attacked my character, my whole being when i have and always will be the exact opposite of that type of person which in actuality I avoid that type of person.

NO i called a spade a spade and called you basically a bad FAN not PERSON theirs a big difference.

One thing that really pisses me of is when people twist things around and try and put words in my mouth like you did with what i bolded for you.

1. bandwagon jumper A bandwagon jumper is someone who changes from one team/political party to the other.

2. bandwagon jumper A person who prior to the playoffs, did not support nor cheer for a team until that team showed promise to win the championship.

Now correct me if i'm wrong but up to and including when the playoffs started it was habs this and habs that coming from you . Now it's wings this and wings that.

If thats not bandwaggoning by definition i don;t know what is.!!

But like i said before whatever works for you.!!

1. I cheered for the wings after your team put out the habs.

2. I had been a wings fan since 1995 when my father told me about them, they are his second fave team, and I saw the movie Net Worth and started to learn all about Ted LIndsay and his contribution to the world.

3. 1995 was when the team lost a chamionship.

4. I dont think you're in any position to call anyone a bandwagoner, since you criticized me and then your Flyersfan friend (interesting that the ones to criticize are flyers fans btw) jumped on a bandwagon to follow suit when i posted this. Interestingly, you guys never jumped on me when I posted the post about changing my mind about 'pussified' Holmstrom.

5. I did not join this forum to be harrassed by judgemental members of the forum staff, thank you.

6. Bad fan - bad person. Still fairweather. To me its one and the same. If a person ditches someone because she/he isnt doing well, that imo is a bad person.

all teams do. For the rangers it was 54 years (1940 - 1994). For the wings it was 42 years (1955 - 1997)

Ted Lindsay must have put a hex on them for his being traded to the blackhawks by Adams and the wings organization of the time because they never won the cup since he was traded until 1997 when the generation who had done it to Lindsay and his generation was gone.

Man, you really did bump your head hard, eh?

And I don't consider switching your second favourite team for your favourite one as necessarily being a bandwagoner. Perhaps the timing was just bad. Either way, the argument is not one that needs to continue.
