there just seems to be a conflict in the nhl... they claim to want to open up the scoring, but they need to clearly define the crease rules...

obviously i am overreacting... mabye its nothing but a few bad calls... im just fearing that it will get worse

one thing that could potentially rectify these kinds of calls... make the play reviewable. what is the point of having instant replay... if half of these plays arent even reviewable...
It's not the Ducks or Coyotes versus the Penguins, it's the Red Wings for christ sakes. If the league was fixed, don't you think their would have been more appealing Finals the last 5 years?

I can't stand conspiracy theorists. They are losers with too much time on their hands.

did you even watch the game? obviously it isnt 'fixed' as you say... the red wings still won DESPITE the calls against them. its not like every game is pre determined... but it seems to me entirely likely that the commissioner would want the refs to call the game in such a way that allows for more action and a better chance for their star player crosby.

It is a FACT that a big portion of the NHL's advertising budget is ordained SPECIFICALLY to promote sidney crosby. they arent trying to promote the game, they are trying to promote one player.

again... did you even see the game?

This terrible officiating has been going on since the lock out. It's with all teams, not just the wings. The inconsistency of the officiating is absolutely appauling. It is ruining the game for all who actually have followed hockey for more than 3 years.

I wouldn't say the game is rigged, but some players do get preferencial treatment in a good and bad way. Holmstrom has always been penalized for this kind of stuff, even though most of it is clean. The league doesn't like it, but they can't do much about the way he plays. Pronger, on the other hand, should have been suspended for a season at least 2 years ago with all the dirty hits that he throws. Yet every time it's only 1 or 2 game suspension. Those 2 very questionable off-sides in Det vs Dal series were total BS. I even paused and went frame by frame, he was at least a foot on-side. The NHL has it's own agenda and Red Wings winning the cup this year is not on it.

You have to blame that on Bettman and the league for putting more pressure on the refs to make all these calls they usually wouldn't make in the old NHL. The league is still going through a transition process and I wouldn't expect to see things level for at least another 2-3 years. Don't blame the refs, just understand what's going on with an open mind.
