Look CP, Flyers have depth out the wazoo for forwards. We need defensive help. Hatcher played on one knee and Smith played with 2 messed up shoulders. I think Mike Ratchuk and Oskar Bartulis will get a good look at training camp and Denis Gauthier might be back with the team full time next year.

actually i was watching the game last night and i thought about you and Jt and what you said about flyers defence. And what I noticed was that detroit was doing what flyers should have done on defence but didnt. Example, the reason why pitts made the pretty goals vs flyers is cause the flyers defence let them all set up and pass the puck around strategically. In contrast when dallas tryed to do that they always had a wing darting for them to intercept the pass. Thats why i said Dallas's best chance was to throw the puck at the net, create scrambles and deflections and hope it goes in. (interesting that not long after i said this to my dad, the sportscaster later repeated my statement almost word for word. LOL. I guess I do know my hockey.)

so yea guess I did see your point about theres a hole in flyers defence especially after last night watching a better team.

This is what worked against the Habs. The Penguins have great speed and what killed the Flyers early on was turnovers...they were simply beat by speed in some areas. Biron came up with saves against Montreal that he didn't against Pittsburgh. I'd rather have the opponent cycling the puck along the boards and taking shots from the outside than a constant and steady wave of odd-man rushes.

Unfortunately, the Flyers were without their best defensemen, Biron wasn't as good, and Briere and Prospal didn't show up.

The Penguins got the job done and a number of factors hurt the Flyers beyond recovery.

We were out of the Pens series before it even started because of no Timonen. Then lost Coburn in Game 2 in the first minute, we were done. I didn't want them to get swept and they didn't.
