Western Conference Finals: Detroit vs. Dallas
This looks to be a promising series along with Philadelphia/Pittsburgh. No matter the winner of each series we know there will be a great Stanley Cup Finals series.
I hate to say this but I'm going with Detroit in 6. Colorado was a warm-up, and Nashville was a grinder, but Dallas will be a test seeing as the Wings haven't faced Turco level goaltending.

I completely agree with you. Ellis was the closest comparison to Turco, but the Wings need to keep up their shot count and make sure they pressure Dallas for all 60 minutes to be able to clinch this thing. Detroit in 6.

I can't see how the Stars are going to combat the number of guys pouring it on in Detroit, but again, Turco is playing out of his mind. He's the only one who can win this series for Dallas.

Of course, he could encounter a terrible accident that keeps him from the playoffs....
Just thinking out loud here.

I'm going with the Wings in 7. It should be a good, close series.

I'm really hoping the Stars take this one... I just like the way those guys play and I'm predisposed to being for the underdog. Regardless, here's to hoping it's a better series than the Avs put on against the Wings... oi.

I think it is going to be Detroit. Turco has not had a good history in hockey town, and the Wings took it hard to Dallas in the regular season just as they did to Colorado.
To say the Wings haven't faced a goaltender the level of Turco isn't quite right. Ellis isn't top notch, but he had some very good games and previously held the stat for most saves in a game before Turco broke it just last game. Furthermore Jose Theodore was lights out against Minnesota in the first round and at the end of the year. Theodore may have gotten hot at the right time for the stretch run and the first round for Colorado, so he can't be considered elite, but it was the Red Wings who broke that streak.
The Wings are really going to push the pace against Dallas, and Dallas is yet to face a team with as slick of a puck moving defense as the Wings. The Wings will bring a good powerplay that Dallas hasn't seen yet. San Jose had a weak powerplay, and the Ducks couldn't seem to get it done on the Powerplay either. Detroit has the advantage in special teams, and Detroit has two better first pass defenseman that will get them out of their zone.
This series will really test Dallas.
